I'm listening to the press conference right now and they have said that WIND's new LTE Network by Nokia will seamlessly stream calls between Shaw's WiFi networks and WIND's network.

They have also said they plan to increase prices steadily over time and plan to use that increased revenue over the incumbents to improve the service when LTE is active. However they are in no rush to do this now.

Edit: Pjw918 beat me to this.
People fight too much on this forum. Can't we all just be friends?

So it is sounding like they will become like the big three! Good bye unlimited n welcome high prices! Can't say I'm surprised!
Promo 50 = Unlimited Talk (US n Canada), Worldwide Txt, MMS and Data Home network (8 gig throttle)
Roaming 2400 mins, Unlimited Global Txt, 1 Gig Data than Throttled but hasn't happened yet Used 5 gigs full speed in Florida

    Rate= $50 - F&F 35% off (life until I cancel Line) plus BTS = $27.50 a month

Why WIND is suddenly worth $1.6-billion
    Globe and Mail, Dec 17
    (paywall)

That Shaw Communications is buying Wind Mobile is surprising. That the wireless startup is being acquired for $1.6-billion makes it eye-popping news.

This valuation, which is roughly $1.3-billion more than what the wireless startup was valued at in September 2014, will be justified many ways. Wind’s earnings and subscriber count keep climbing. Wind has added crucial wireless spectrum.

Will Shaw get rid of the Wind call centre? It would be nice to have local support

Good luck with that. They announced that they were shutting down a bunch of Alberta call centres Jan 2016.

Once the purchase transaction is complete, estimated fall of 2016, there would likely be plans made to consolidate call centre's and support. How that works out, where they are located and how much staff will be there is open to speculation. Depends on costs, and being able to reduce the support costs for all call centres.

That's fiscal Q3, first half of CY2016 for close.

Shaw has recently gone through a major consolidation of their call centres.
About a month ago WIND held a job fair in Windsor for the call centre.

I'm guessing they'll rebrand the entire division "Shaw Wireless" - but they'll wait until the network is greatly improved before they do it. They'll continue to call it WIND through the upgrade phase and announce the name change with their "new" solid network..

Did they actually say that they would increase prices, or were they describing the increased ARPU? If it is the latter, that does not only mean higher prices. If the network improvements inspire subscribers to move from, say, talk and text to more expensive plans with data, then the ARPU also increases.

There are many potential strategies. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wind brand live on as a value-focused MVNO - and make the Shaw Wireless brand a premium offering. Anything could happen.

    Cheers,
