I have noticed Band 17 in residential areas of Vancouver, along the Coquihalla highway and at my home in Saanich (Victoria). I have good Band 4 coverage at home but the other two areas were Edge only so Band 17 marks a huge improvement.

I notice reception is better by 10-20dBm compared to band 4

When did you start connecting to band 17 in Saanich? I'm in Langford and had a band 17 handset with field test mode, but several months ago moved to one that had band 17 and 12 but no field test mode. At that time, I could see band 17 but couldn't connect to it, it would drop to 3G instead.

I should swap my SIM and play around with field test mode a bit. Thanks for this info. :-)

Band 12 and 17 here in Nelson BC... Finally LTE... Bellus using 4,5, hopefully more to come. Still switching over to EXT as soon as leaving the city of course onto Bellus LTE which has a good footprint save Castlegar (wtf poor folks)

I can now confirm that Duncan has not only band 17, but also band 12 with MFBI.

Ditto Greater Victoria, band 17 and band 12 with MFBI all over. The ferry trip between Victoria and Vancouver used to be a dog's breakfast of LTE, HSPA, and Edge, plus areas where you locked onto U.S. signals. Now thanks to band 12/17 I get LTE almost the entire trip, so long as I'm sitting near a window. Yes, deep in the bowels of the ship it can be a different story. But overall it's drastically improved.

Do you have any proof of MFBI being used? What are the EARFCNs used for Band 12/17 now?

Maybe I'm wrong, I'm new to interpreting MFBI. What I observed was that I used to see band 17 (5760 IIRC). Now I see only band 12 (5035). On a recent trip I did run into band 17 in a rural area, but as soon as I moved towards the city I saw 5035 again. My impression was I had encountered a rural site where they hadn't bothered to deploy both (or there was something wrong with how they'd implemented band 12). I used to see band 17 all over this area, but now when band 12 is present band 17 disappears. What can I look for to confirm it?
