    Online text/SMS service in Canada

Do Telus/other providers offer a paid text/SMS service which is truly online/internet based? Similar to GoogleVoice in USA.

That works as follows. Being logged in to my online account, I will be able to receive incoming text messages sent at my cell number (with my cell phone being OFF). And, likewise, being able to send out text messages online (as if the messages are sent out from my actual cell phone).

Meh, he posted this in the Rogers forum as well.
    Un-Rogered, and getting better 'value'.

I'm guilty of posting in multiple forums before too. Is that bad?

I do that with Rogers One Number. I recall Telus working on a similar offering. Sadly this hasn't flowed through to their flanker brands (Fido, Chatr, Cityfone, Koodo, and Public Mobile).
Sent from my Lumia via the HoFo Windows Phone app
Lumia 950 XL dual-SIM -- SIM slot 1: Rogers (small business flex data) -- SIM slot 2: Public Mobile ($120/12GB/90 day plan)

Blackberry Blend allows you to do just that with any carrier... as long as you have a BB10 device.

edit: nvrmind... your phone has to be on, but can be anywhere in the world.

Incoming while roaming is free. Outgoing texts are $5 / 100 texts on Koodo.

Blackberry Blend piggybacks off your phone - even sending emails it actually sends from the phone, basically a VPN to your phone. I've left my phone at home a couple times so I just logged into Blend on my laptop at work, and I get my email, SMS and BBMs and calendars. But I haven't tried across the country or around the world before!
