    does faster HSPA+ speeds mean possible LTE upgrade?

    on average my download speeds are usually between 1 and 5 mbps but lately its been from 8 to a little over 10 mbps. could this be an LTE upgrade?

    Not necessarily. Usually throughput on UMTS increases when LTE is deployed as newer LTE capable devices will prioritize LTE first, but recent Ericsson releases enable 64QAM instead of 16QAM over UMTS. You could be seeing the 64QAM parameter being flipped on. Do you have an LTE Capable device? A very large majority of US markets have all of their LTE deployed. This could also be due to proper cell site optimization or a new site coming up in your area.
