Best way to buy a device full retail

I am not interested in paying $200, $300 for a $700 or $800 device. I rather pay retail price drop my microSIM in the device and just use it. The problem is say if I want a Note 4 for example, Future Shop or Rogers does not sell you the device non-discounted.

I live in Toronto, would I find retailers willing to just sell the device if I took a road trip to say Cornwall or something.

Rogers does no favours discounting upfront locks you in and you pay more of time.

This is one to the reasons I want the Nexus 6, which Motorola fix their supply issues.

Check amazon.ca. You'll need to get it shipped to you, but Amazon has some decent protection policies (even better than eBay to some extent). Just make sure you read the listings carefully, and also the feedback. You may find a supplier that has a physical presence somewhere that'll allow you to pick it up, but they're pretty rare.

Trust none of them, want a new device and do not want risks.
I would go as far as trying for a case .... but a $800 new device with warranty (good luck)

Amazon.ca ..... check them out but I think they have cheaper old products.

Looking for something like the Galaxy Note 4

    Amazon.COM

Many people selling on the .com site will ship to Canada, for additional cost, plus of course duties/HST. Plus you now have the exchange rate to worry about too.

This was about a year ago but I remember walking into a Rogers store (not a reseller like BestBuy/FutureShop/etc. where they definitely won't sell a phone at the month-to-month price) and purchasing a phone (Blackberry Q10) at the monthly price with my Rogers account which was on a monthly plan.

Rogers retailers will sell you a phone on the month to month price. I have bought a few devices that way. Just have to make a fuss and stand your ground. They do not want to as the commissions are way less. At the month to month price listed on their website, I do not think they an refuse.

Other way is to sign up, get the device and then call in and cancel within 15 days. You'll have to pay your tab and it's yours!

Don't forget the outright price is usually $50 higher than the month to month activation price.

Yes you are right, actually last phone I bought was a M8 and it was from Visions and a Bell version, unlocked it and Visions only charged me $599.00 outright.

But you are right IRC, buy it on contract then cancel and pay the tab.

Did you pay the month to month price or an extra $50 for outright?

Activate a new line, walk out of the mall and cancel the line, pay the balance.
