You can download a Windows desktop app from the Telus Mobility site that will run on your computer or laptop and let you send and receive text messages in Windows. Also let you do calls from your computer if you have a microphone.

Is this app working for anyone on Koodo? I installed it just now and received the text, but then got the message that its by invite only.

Same here...I would have loved it to work (feel free to chime in on the Koodo community forums to support the idea) as it's not so much about having a VoIP app, but being able to send and receive calls ON THE SAME mobile number.

I really doubt they will allow Koodo users to use this app

^ I hope thats not the case, receiving the text message for the app gave me a little bit of hope. But lets see what happens.

Finally got someone to provision it to my account via the online support chat... Woohoo idk

and to those who use telus extend. are you using it as a standalone app? did you ditch your phone and messaging apps? or are you using them both telus extend, phone and messaging?

it's a backup all else fails thing.. like when phone signal cuts out then extend will still put the call through for me on wifi... but i think i posted this before, the call quality is not great. i mean the voice quality is great when the call is connected but there are moments of disconnect. most likely due to QoS. no one's been able to tell me what QoS settings/priority to give to Extend on my router...

Additionally extend's voice quality chops in and out all the time. I have not been able to fix it. Since I got a Motorola device, it can now get some service where the previous Samsung device didn't get any service so I stopped using extend

I do. I had it prior to switching over to a corporate account. I called them back when I noticed it wasting working. Begged them to put it back on because of the bad coverage at my home.
