    Coverage changes - eastern Montana

    Hi,

I live in Saskatchewan but I'm in eastern Montana quite regularly.

I noticed last month that service in the eastern strip of Montana has been turned off (e.g. Plentywood, Culbertson). I checked with my Canadian provider and they advise me that AT&T turned down service on October 7.

What's happening? Presumably someone is taking over this service. AT&T phones (and phones with networks that normally roam on AT&T here) are simply showing No Service in this area now, which is quite annoying.

Nemont (Sagebrush Cellular) is as far as I know the only provider in the area now and they use CDMA.

    Any info?

    SaskTel 306, Rogers 647 data, Rogers 306 flex tablet, Bell 519 flex tablet, Wind 587, PureTalkUSA 406, T-Mobile 716 & 347 prepaid, AT&T iPad SIM 716, T-Mobile postpaid data 619, Toggle Mobile (UK/FR/US), GiffGaff (UK)

GSM phones: Too many to list.

Cellular one of Montana shuttered operations in August. Sold customers to AT&T, sold spectrum to sprint, then shut down the network.

Cell sites sold to Sprint. ATT got customer access and PCS spectrum. Verizon got AWS and PCS spectrum.

My mistake. They pretty much sold parts to the highest bidder then.

Yes, they pretty much did, same thing they did with their GSM system in Oklahoma, sold it to Pioneer, a CDMA carrier. Nemont is an LTE in Rural America partner with Verizon and has upgraded some of their territory already.

Well this is disappointing then. All Canadian carriers are selling service on HSPA/LTE networks now (the CDMA networks are legacy only; no new subscribers) so no roaming here I guess unless/until someone builds something compatible. Thanks for the responses.
