Went over my data cap any help?

Hi I am on the 5 gb data plan and went over the plan. I was watching a video on my s4 browser and closed the browser left the phone in my car and went to work. I returned to my car and had the 100 percent data plan text message. I guess the video kept playing in the background of my browser. The bill I got hit me with an extra $200 for data overages. I have never gone over the 5 gb before. Is there any way I don't have to pay the full amount. I used about 8.8 gb total for the month. Any help would be appreciated. I have not called 611 yet. Thanks.

I would strongly advise to call 611. If you were hit with an extra 4GB of overages, your bill should be extra but not $200 extra. There's something else going on if you legitimately have a bill in excess of normal by $200

Agreed, need to call in. Keep in mind the nicer you are to the rep you get the better service. Speaking from experience. They will work with you especially if you take responsibility of the issue.

On the Old 5GB non tiered $30 plan there was an overage charge of 25cents per megabyte that translates into 800MB over = $200. you will never be charged more tha $200 in data overage on a single line. If I were you, and you cannot pay the full amount, I would call 611 and speak to fianacial services. I would set up a data limit on your phone in the Data Monitor to where it alerts you at 4GB and blocks your data at 4.90GB and whenever possible connect to a WiFI serivce for your videos.

If you have points you could use them for overage forgiveness.

So i called 611 today and the best they could do was a $25 credit. They recommended talking to financial services who may be able to do more. She said i used about 8.8 gbs of data which would be $922 ! There is no longer overage forgiveness supposedly. Thanks for all of your help.

Well i went to the store today and an agent called on my behalf and they gave me an extra $50 credit! I am ok with paying an extra $125 rather than an extra $200.

Why don't you turn off your data on your phone when not needed instead of having data always on? Fool me once ....

I had a 5GB Plan and my share talk line went $250 in overages a 2GB over. I switched to a Tiered plan and that 2GB became $20 in overages instead. Once I got WiFI at my houes the usage on my Share talk wen from 15GB a month to 2.5GB.

It's not extortion, as overage charges are right in the service agreement presented to you when taking service.

It was a joke, but that amount is pretty disgusting, I can't believe USCC could get away with that, when AT&T charges $10 for each GIGABYTE over.
