USCC is definitely still the coverage leader here in their Northern California areas (Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas Counties), though Verizon has made HUGE improvements over the past 5-10 years, and is virtually neck and neck with them in many locations now. One nice thing too, both Verizon and USCC roam in-market EVDO onto each other in dead spots, so if you have coverage with one, you have coverage with the other. Verizon has the majority of their locations with LTE now, though USCC has put up LTE in Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, it's slower than Verizon's though and not nearly as extensive.

I hope USCC makes it too, their loss would mean less competition for rural areas like ours, but I just wonder how much longer they can keep up the fight against the big guys.

They used US Cellular as their guinea pig with their latest software that hasn't been implemected by other carriers yet. US Cellular was the first to get this failed software.

Amdocs management didn't strut in with machine guns and force US Cellular to buy their product. If it's an unproven piece of crap product running USCC's billing system, it's there because they purchased it.

Got news for you, everyone is using Amdocs, the only difference is US Cellular was the guinea pig for Amdocs latest software.

Knowing their small market share and other current issues, maybe they shouldn't have decided to be a test bed, they can't afford the mess it's now causing.

Yes, use the wifi but not all airports are free wifi. Yes, I've also asked when I got home if I was capped.... and I wasn't.
I had the same issues recently while in Orlando. I'm getting tired of my data being worthless while outside of native coverage.

Yawn....another sky is falling post. They've never pretended to be one of the big boys, just a regional carrier filling a lot of rural holes for those of us that live in such areas. Sprint, AT&T, TMobile, blow big baby chunks in my area. Big Red does have service, albeit spotty but they are almost always the most expensive carrier when fairly comparing plans.
