HD voice between multiple carriers working as of today

Shortly after today's blackout, I noticed a HUGE improvement in voice quality when I called my friends' Bell phones. I should state that I'm a Koodo customer, but I reckon that this is applicable to Telus customers too. Before today, I was only able to notice HD calls when calling my Koodo friend, but now it seems to be working with Bell customers too.
I haven't tried it with Rogers, but I did try it with Wind and unfortunately it's just a regular voice call. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that Telus and Bell operate on the same towers. Regardless, I'm very happy about this. Making calls will be a bit more tolerable to many people now.

    ++
Wind was the first to get HD voice, but like all other carriers, it only works between Wind customers. I must say, Wind's HD voice was really good.
Source: was a former Wind customer as of 4 months ago.

HD voice was previously unavailable for calls between carriers (which appears to be what OP is suggesting now)
HD voice on Wind first, later on Bell/Telus, was VERY dependent on what model phone was used

One thing to point out however; both Wind (& Bell/Telus) had the tech at SAME time (supplied via Huawei)
Bell/Telus chose to test it alot more, whereas Wind mainstreamed it (with the bugs and all) as soon as possible (they needed somethings to brag about their network right)

But HD voice was around since early 2011
It is sad I need to state the obvious but some people just don't get it. Any posts I make are my own OPINIONS and in no way represent the views of my employer

Interoperability is the word missing from thread. Iam still waiting for full interoperability of texts between carriers.
I remember having ulocked Bell Nokia C6O1s using Wind unlimited Canadien HD long before the majority of Hells customers handsets supported much more than CDMA. Dont recall any issues with Wind HD voice and dont recall Hellus promoting HD to their awed masses.

Wind is/was a Trendsetter like Microcell was before getting gangbanged or tag teamed by the Big 3 stooges.

Erm.. title of the thread by OP is "HD voice between multiple carriers working as of today"....
    Between carriers certainly implies interoperability

Or are you just randomly posting the anti-Bell stuff without realizing which thread you are in?

Are you just randomly attacking me while supporting your pro stance? Was I missed so much you were deployed to search and destroy me in another forum?
    Have you infact implicated yourself?

Do we know if Telus peeps can HD call Rogers/Wind types?

    Bell was only mentioned.

I suspect this (outage) might have been an upgrade to full IP switching. If the calls had to drop down to the 64k PSTN codec, you're stuck with toll quality only.

    oldsam,

    Greetings.

Inter-carrier HD voice, finally! Confirmed with another Bell subscriber, but not working with Rogers. Unlike the experiences with intra-carrier scenario, it takes a few second to "kick in" though.

The Multiple Operator Core Network (MOCN) implementation does NOT make TELUS and Bell offering the exact service options like WB-AMR based HD Voice a must, while sharing a common UMTS Radio Access Network (RAN) i.e the "towers". Bell has introduced the HD Voice before TELUS, for example.

Interestingly enough the HD voice is always enabled when call started
Once it realizes you are calling a non HD voice phone (such as landline) the HD logo dissapears
