I'd probably take them up on the $10/mo home phone if it was available in the Vancouver area. Oh well.

    It clearly says $9.99*

In the telecom industry one learns to fear the *
On Rogers/Fido price is permanent; is this a promo that increased after 6 months or what?
It is sad I need to state the obvious but some people just don't get it. Any posts I make are my own OPINIONS and in no way represent the views of my employer

I have the $9.99 wireless home phone plan. In the fine print it says that it's for Rogers Home Phone customers in the GTA only (which I was). However, no one ever asked me for proof of being a Rogers customer, even though the offer email clearly states that you will need to provide them with your Rogers invoice.

Also it seems like a totally separate department in Telus handles this as they don't sound like the regular Telus call centre people and if you run into issues, the regular Telus call centre people don't seem to understand what "Wireless Home Phone" is. You have to tell them that what you have is a "Smart Hub" if you plan on doing any troubleshooting (which I did have to do).

It took a few weeks to work out the kinks - problems porting, problems with voicemail - but now it's working perfectly.

All it really is, is a Huawei smart hub with the data disabled. You just put the SIM card in it, plug in your home phone and that's that.

Despite the initial set up problems, you really can't beat $9.99 a month, no contract. This is the actual ongoing price and not "introductory pricing" like the other guys, where you end up having to call them every year to re-negotiate your price.

    Yup

The real advantage here is people who have no Rogers signal at home so Telus would be much better
You would be opposite (and can sign up with Rogers instead)

Interesting. Wonder if one might get a discount offering to leave competitor for another?
