Can I activate one of these TotalByVerizon or straight talk iphones sold at walmart with Tracfone service 10$ or 15$ plans.
The goal is to get them unlocked.
Will I have to call customer service to unlock it or will be unlocked automatically.
I was reading somewhere that these have to be rebranded to TF and then activated.

Yes. The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G $219.99 (never $299.99) when it first appeared on 10-20-2022 TF store and has been OOS ever since. ~$169.99 is a more proper price for it. But it'll probably drop down to $150, $130 and eventually $100.

I don't know if TotalbyVerizon, which used to be known as Total Wireless, still behaves like it did.

But usually with Straight talk and some of the other Tracfone sister companies you can do that. Go to chat and ask the chat rep to rebrand the Straight talk phone to Tracfone service before activating it. I like to also mention that I would like to be able to unlock it when eligible.

If for some reason the phone fails to rebrand correctly and does not unlock smoothly 60 days after activation, you could call the TF unlocking department and still try to get it unlocked. People have done that. Hopefully though it will work right. Some people don't even bother asking a rep to rebrand it and it rebrands automatically but I think it's better to ask for it to kind of up the chances that it gets done.

The normal Tracfone unlocking procedure depends if phone is iPhone or Android.

If Android, on 60th day you can go to the unlocking site and enter information and this will send 2 unlock codes to your email.
You have to enter them into the phone.

If iPhone, it should unlock automatically on the 60th day.

You can text unlock to 611611 from your device to see what day it will be eligible to unlock.

Finally in stock. It's a decent mid-range phone, but other carriers have this phone on sale for about ~$50 including one month plan at Boost and Metro. I'll wait for this and the A53 to drop more. My AAL rewards have successfully vested, but not much interesting phones. Was hoping a new-in-box iPhone SE2 would drop to $99/129, but might just grab an extra refurb one and another A51 as backup.

Just ordered iphone 11 refurb! Threw in random Moto 5G and Blu with the order since XR and SE were out of stock.

I placed the order Friday, and the random phones are already here today Monday! But no iphone 11 refurb and no email or tracking for the iphone.

The refurb phone is shipped from the refurbisher and often you get no shipment notice from TF. Mine (ordered on Friday) has been shipped and I know because I have a UPS account and they notify me when I have incoming shipments.

When I checked Monday night, it showed label created Monday afternoon, estimated delivery date Wednesday. It takes about 1.5 day for the shipment to get from TN to KS by ground (even though it is shipped via 2nd day Air).
