iMessage "delivered" vs. "read" - trick?

    Guys,

Lately I have been finding that some of the people who have "Read Receipts" turned on in iMessage are actually, getting my messages and reading them, but somehow the "Read" notification isn't triggered until much later. I am starting to think they are using a trick to read my messages, but not show the "Read" receipt right away, so they can claim they didn't see my message for quite some time.

I'm starting to think that people are reading my texts from the notification bar or the list of messages, but not actually going into our chat screen. If you just read the iMessages from the notification bar, or In the list of messages, will that prevent "Read" from being sent right away?

If so, it's a good little trick to pick and choose who and when you want to sent a Read Receipt...rather than turning them off and on globally. I can't think of how else these people are doing it.

Just wondering but what's the point of having the "read" option on if you're going to use another app to go around it? Why not just turn that option off so people don't get irritated knowing the fact that you've read their txt already? It bugs the crap outta me when one of my friends have read it but doesn't respond to the txt in a timely manner or even at all.

iMessage "delivered" vs. "read" - trick?

I find that the one person I text a lot she has the "Read" option (not sure if she knows it) but she'll read the message once it comes on screen or in the lock screen then when she goes to reply she'll open up the stock message app and it'll say read then I get her reply.

I have the read option off because I rather they not know when I read it because then they'll expect a reply right then.

Generally that's when your respondent has iMessage but has it off/ in a non data area and it turns into a text. Starts off blue then turns green.
I'm not telling you anything that you can't just google for yourself

If you have iOS 5 or later you have imessage and all it's options..

The option for "Read" is right under where you enable or disable imessage itself under settings>messages
