Please walk me through selling my Rogers Blackberries

Hubby and I just upgraded our Blackberries to iPhones, so we are looking to get info on selling the phones.

We donate everything away, so the actual selling process is new for us, but since we are dealing with personal info on our phones, we want to get the info necessary to determine if we should sell our phones or not.

We have two Blackberry Bolds that are locked to Rogers.

Do we set the phones back to factory default settings, and this will delete our personal info (eg. contacts, photos, etc.)?

Do we actually keep the SIM card in the phones, or take them out?

We aren't sure what the steps are in doing this. I have looked through this forum and others, and so we have an idea of the steps involved, but our biggest concern is wiping our phones of personal data.

Sorry if this is a basic question, but any help anyone can provide would be so appreciated.

    Thanks, Tiger

Remove the sim cards and memory cards, and do a security wipe. That's it.

Yes, the buyers will use their own SIM cards in the BB's. You would have kept the sim's for your iPhones, if they were the same size.

At this time with current blackberries becoming obsolete, the focus will be towards the new blackberry 10 platform. You may not get buyers. I had a blackberry bold 9900 on craigs list and nobody bit at the 350$ pricing for a 9.9 condition 3mnth old device.

They're not worth any money at this time. Also you will also be seeing decreasing support for older models as the push begins for users to upgrade to bb10. The 1st model launched will be all touchscreen then shortly after will be seeing a qwerty model.

You always wipe phone to factory condition and never under any circumstances leave your sim cards in devices. Sim cards are like bank cards and holds your cell account info digitally.

    And Howard forums

Are all great places to cell you used handsets.

Honestly though, it seems if you aren't selling an iPhone, SGS3, Nexus 4 or Note 2...all resale values for other phones suck.

Thanks all for the info. Very helpful!

We have Bold 9780s in fab condition. Thought someone may need as spare or replacement phone for maybe $75.00 each as we saw similar listings for over $100.00 CDN (we are Canadian). Still not sure if we are going to sell or not...?

    Thanks, Tiger

To be honest I wouldn't bother. BB 10 is launching soon and all previous models are now obsolete.

I wouldn't say that the BB 9780 is obsolete. If anything, it's a great backup phone and it's still a great phone for those people who use it for BBM, email and the calendar.
But yes, for sale prices, it's going to be $80-$100.

eBay charges 10%-15% with fees so you can go that route but you'll lose that value. The best bet is to see if any of your friends have kids who can use them.

Or.. try Gazelle.com as they purchase and resell those devices.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10A523 Safari/8536.25)

Is 9780 good on voice quality and reception?

I want a second phone (will be used only for voice) but I want very good voice quality. Not sure what brand and model to go with. I would think since its a business phone, they would put strength on reception and voice, no?
