iPhone 5 with 6gb/30$ addon not connecting to 4G

So I got my new iPhone 5 and I seem to only connect to 3G even if I am in 4G HSPA+ coverage, is this normal? Is it because my 6gb plan is 3G and wasn't converted to LTE?

Did a speedtest and got 6-7 mbps download and this is what I was getting on my iPhone 4 3G

iPhone on Rogers shows 3G even if its on H+. If its on LTE it will show it. I find it doesn't work well indoors, signal is still rather weak mostly works outside. I believe all plans now got converted to LTE at Rogers.

Ya I am sure I read somewhere that all data plans were converted to LTE, just wondering why I get 3G speeds in 4G coverage

might have to call them yet again

There is no 4G symbol. It's only for at t phones. If you are in 4g coverage it will show 3G. Lte shows lte. You will never see a 4g symbol. You probably fine.

already did, I received my iPhone5 + LTE sim card last night and activated the new card

is it because it takes time before it's registered on the network? my rogers still shows my iPhone 4

If you are in a LTE coverage area, it should connect right away. Where are you located?

There is no 4g indicator on iphone.

iphone will show e for edge
    3g for 3g/3.5g/3.5g+, 4g/HSPA/HSPA+ networks
    LTE on LTE

Now you are never gaurenteed a speed, so your area and times testing maybe maxed at the 6-7, as well you may have older towers in your are connecting to

The speed is not the same but the symbol on your phone is. You will not be able to tell the difference.

I don't remember if iphone4 has 4g hspa but it might. If it does then thats why you het same speedtest. Iid it does not then you're not in 4g area By the way 4g is just a marketing term. Anything non lte or non dc hspa is not 4g.

It can take up to 20 minutes after a sim card change for LTE to kick in. Have you tried the phone in other parts of your city? Perhaps you live in an LTE deadspot.

Re: iPhone 5 with 6gb/30$ addon not connecting to 4G

There are two "types" of "4g". There's hspa+ which is really just a slightly faster version of 3g, and lte which is it's own thing. It's rogers, so if you're not downtown in a major city you probably won't be seeing lte anytime soon.

Not true, I get excellent LTE coverage in the suburbs of Toronto.
