Rogers really why are we the last to get firmware OTA

I run 4.1.1 on my Note II I know that a upgrade has been promised soon.
    Soon means whenever.

    But

A friend has a Galaxy Nexus and it still has not been upgrade !!!
People buy Nexus devices for quick updates.

I hear maybe the end of January for the Galaxy Note II.

Anybody know when there will be or have guess for the Galaxy Nexus.

I know root, Titanium, update ROM but I do not want to go that way.

What does the Galaxy Nexus have to do with Rogers?
For Canada, it was Samsung that is delaying the firmware updates, nothing to do with any of the carriers.

I asked a similar question on xda forums and it was confirmed the update actually comes from the manufacturer, not the carrier. I guess its ready when its ready!

Please, everyone has HoFo rights to their opinions & questioning...

And, personally, lower everyone as the level of the infamous of Shawn T Dot is the worst of worst in HowardForums and don't deserve such comparison...

    thats a 1/2 truth.

updates are done via manufacturer, then code is sent to carriers to allow them to custumize for there network or add those bogus undeletable apps, carrier spends time testing then releases update. a carrier can decide to release or not, as well. if its a ,major bug fix they will release, otherwise R&D can take weeks even months before releasing

problem arrises as manufacture update does not load on carrier phones only unbranded phones, thus a lie XXXX new firmware released for XYZ phone. Should read XXXX fimrware released for XYZ model -003 phone. As public assumes, there is only 1 model of phone.

Re: Rogers really why are we the last to get firmware OTA

The galaxy nexus has specific software builds for various locations. The one that is updated by Google is yakju/takju its the phone sold in the play store. The other builds are updated by Samsung, Canada's version is yakjuux. The way you check your software version is you open Maps>Settings>About.

The differences in these builds is mainly language packs and different radio's for the various locations. The benefit of a nexus device is you can flash the yakju/takju image very easily and in less then 15 minutes. I flashed takju and am running 4.2.1 stock jellybean. If you wish to make the switch I suggest looking for the detailed instructions on xda.

Rogers really why are we the last to get firmware OTA

Well aware of all that, however, once again the carriers have nothing to do with the Nexus firmware updates.
I've flashed a friend's yakjux to yakju when Samsung Canada wasn't updating the build to jelly bean in a timely manner last year.
