Need recommendations for a good Wi-Fi phone.

My old Sony Ericsson w518a died a few months ago. I've been using a cheap go phone from Walmart to avoid signing up for another 2 year contract. Now it's time to purchase a phone suitable for my needs. So, not knowing much about all the techy gizmo's and crap I don't need... I need some input on what to buy. I don't care about brands or where the phone comes from as long as it works and will hold up to a bit of abuse.
What I'm looking for is somewhat basic. Good sound quality for voice conversations, must have a very good quality camera (preferably with flash and excellent zoom). Huge picture storage capacity. Must have wi-fi capability. Can not be very expensive. I'd go over $100 if I really had to but looking for something decent below $100. One reason I want WIFI capability is so I can leave my laptop at home and not need it on the road or work site. Micro SD preferred.

Now, for things that would be nice but not necessary... GPS, but I have no idea how to use GPS. FM radio might be useful, music/MP3 is a given with today's phones. I need a large screen that is durable and easy to read.
I don't text so that is nothing I even consider.

I assume that my current sim is 2G since I've never been on a data plan. Whether or not that sim will work in a 3G or 4G phone I simply do not know.
From what I've read and researched, I'm thinking an unlocked quad band android phone would work best for my needs... but so many out there I don't know which to buy or what to look for.... or if there is a serious difference in versions of android. Price is a HUGE concern for me... no rich kid here.... Any help or input VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

I'm gonna have an unlocked NOKIA N8 for sale, soon.
But, the reason I replaced it is I wanted more screen real estate (3.5" screen).
informed/intelligent comments are welcome ... BS - not so much ...

    peace,

You won't find something with all the features you want for less than $100 new. You might find something used for that amount, however.

If spending under $200 is ok then there are a slew of unlocked Nokias that will give you what you want out of the box. Check out the 700 and C6-01 for starters. I purchased a brand new 700 for a family member for $125 new. It has a 5MP camera with LED flash, offline Navigation, MicroSD and a bunch of other features.

I would look at getting an Atrix 2 for good price if u don't mind it being locked to att (never looked into unlocked options).

Don't get an Atrix 2 if u r going to do any VoIP calling, even over wifi.

Thanks guys for the input. When I first looked at AT&T phones I seriously thought about the Atrix. I don't know what all unlocking entails but I don't want AT&T to identify the phone. I just need wifi. Not sure how all that works but I know that if they do a sweep and figure out that I've got a smart phone they'll put me on an unwanted data plan and I don't and will not be using their data. So... I want something that is not branded. I don't know if simply unlocking will do it or if jail breaking or sweeping is the same. I'm just too unfamiliar with all the terminology. I'm fine with getting a cheap Chinese knock off as long as it works and gives me decent service. Less than $100 is preferable but I'd go a little higher if it's really worth the money. The 5 mp on the Dell Aero caught my eye but I did enjoy the fm radio on my sony ericsson... tho' I didn't like the shake control. That stupid phone would start playing music when in my pocket and I had a hard time turning the music off. I work in the hot sun during summers and twice I've had phones fried from getting too hot. So, I'll be trying to avoid keeping one in my pocket. Too, I do a lot of crawling under houses and use the phone to talk to my helper so do kinda need one that can take the abuse of being dragged around and dropped from time to time. A couple of things I don't need that the chinese knock offs tend to have is multiple sims... but if I can figure out how to hook a usb camera to the phone it would come in handy in doing video inspections.. .and I would like to get a decent sized screen.

I have a Verizon droid razr and have issues with VoIP calling having bad SQ with crackling audio and popping sounds. Is this a general flaw with most moto android phones and can it be alleviated with some tweaks?

Awe wow, that is really really bad on Moto's part since they are supposed to be specialists. Probably not, best to get a phone from another brand. That's exactly how my Atrix 2 sounds when using VoIP though.

I did do my part to read the reviews on the phone but none of them, or at least the ones I read, mentioned any problems with VoIP sound quality. In the end I could manage keeping the razr while using my other devices for internet calls especially how I obtained it at new condition and low price without a contract.

RE: Need recommendations for a good Wi-Fi phone.

An unlocked pentaband phone would dongood for you. Ot would allow you the flexibility of what you're trying to attain but, at&t won't flag you. You could even sign up for the $10 basic dumb-phone plan and use as you wish. I've done it and it works like normal. The IMEI won't be registered in their database as a smartphone and, it will treat it as a "feature" phone. .... You are however going to have to up your budget like someone above said. You won't find anything in the store that's got smartphone stuff without the smartphone attached.
