    Calls not going through

I swapped from AT&T to Alltel 2 years ago. I have been very pleased with the service. Our area is one that remained Alltel and were not bought up by Verizon. I have one issue though. I live in southeast Georgia. I have some family in Alabama. There are about 3 numbers of family members there that I occasionally try to call. The calls will not go through. Sometimes I will hear 3 beeps and then silence. I can text these people fine and when I travel to their area I can call them fine, however I am unable to call them from my home area. One person is with T-Mobile, one is with Sprint and I have actually had this to happen while calling a land line there. Also, they can call me. I contacted Alltel and they had me to update my phone. They indicated it is a routing/switching issue and it must be an issue on the carrier I am trying to call. I was wondering if anyone else has had these issues and if there is a fix for it.

Well it is not the carrier of the people you are calling if you can call them from another area just fine. Heck, try adding the one in front of the area code..... or remove it if you are using it.

@ budone. Thanks for the quick reply. I did try the numbers with and without a 1 and still can't get the calls to go through on 2 numbers. get 3 beeps and silence. Not sure why it is not working from my area. I have update my phone and all roaming capabilities have been updated and also shut the phone down and turned it back on and tried, but still no luck. I am going to contact Alltel again about the issue.

There are still lots of routing errors. I gave up months ago trying to get them to get it right. It doesnt even appear they have the ability to get it right.
Still using a 3 watt analog bag phone in 2011!

I'm sure the FCC would be interested to hear about this.

Its just what happens when you replace all the quality Lucent/Nortel/Motorola equipment with cheap Chinese ZTE stuff. Deal with it!
