    iPhone with PureTalk plan

thanks ahead for any help here. I am looking to buy a used apple 3g and use the pure talk everything plan. this phone has been previously used on att by the prior owner. I am not a big internet user on the phone. will the sim from pure talk work on the 3g apple? do I have to get it cut to fit? anything else I should know?

    thanks

Which cellular carrier offers the "Pure Talk Everything" plan?

The At&t iPhone is locked to At&t and unless you unlock it, you cannot use it on another GSM carrier. Neither At&t or Apple will assist you with unlocking any iPhone at any time. The only officially unlocked iPhones must be purchased through Apple at full retail price.

The iPhone 3G uses a standard size SIM card. No cutting needed.
Don't make me turn this car around.....

I checked the Pure Talk website. It says that At&t phones shouldn't need any modifications. http://puretalkusa.com/cell-phones-sim-cards.php#unlock Although, the iPhone is a smartphone. Therefore, it might not fall into this category. You can always try it. They have a 14 day return policy. Let me know how it turns out for you, if you decide to give it a go.

I think the OP should contact Pure Talk to confirm compatibility.

They seem to be a spin-off MVNO of At&t. Sounds like it might be pretty good. Just depends on At&t coverage in the area where used. At&t does roam a little. Most prepaid cell phones don't include roaming agreements. This one seems to be an At&t MVNO being that you can use old At&t phones. I don't think it will roam though on networks that At&t has roaming agreements with. Pricing is great for people on budgets or that want to give kids an iPod and an phone all rolled into one.

It sure can't hurt to ask to end all doubts.

They give instructions for the iPhone's APN settings for Pure Talk here:
    http://puretalkusa.com/phone_programming.php#ps

Since the APN is "att.mvno", I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're an AT&T MVNO.

It appears that the iPhone 3G should work fine with Pure Talk, but, as others have said, it makes sense to ask them to confirm.
