I was thinking about the LG 2X today because I can't find a reasonably priced Atrix or Infuse and I have a feeling the 2X will be T-Mobile only coverage. If that's the case then the coverage won't be much better than the Sprint Androids ST is currently selling. I hope I'm wrong though.

    If you compare
    T-Mobile Native Coverage: http://www.mysimplemobile.com/Simple...-Coverage.aspx
    Sprint Native Coverage: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/check...phone-coverage

I would say T-Mobile native is better. However, the key is that even T-Mobile SIMs on ST (the locked ones) have better coverage than T-Mobile native since ST has agreements with many GSM providers in the USA.

ST had this coverage map on their web site a while ago:

You can see the GSM-T(mobile) coverage is significantly more than T-Mobile native.
I think the coverage will likely be a lot closer to T-Mobile Prepaid coverage:
    http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-coverage
(that is if the phone runs on T-Mobile)

Yeah I remember that coverage map from ST's website, I think I have it saved on my computer somewhere but as you know the coverage ST showed for T-mobile is not T-mobiles native coverage. I think you might be right though about T-Mobile's native coverage being slight better than Sprint's native coverage but the difference is very slight. I was just posting my assumption about the 2X so I hope I'm wrong.

For those asking what gsm provider this will be on, how could it not be T-Mobile? This phone was never released on AT&T. Also, you can see the 4g indicator on the screenshots, as far as I know AT&T does not brand their hspa+ devices as 4g. I think it's pretty obvious this is a T-Mobile phone.

The only thing left to figure out is price and release date. If Straight Talk announces specific data limits for this phone, such as unlimited 4g up to 2GB and then unlimited 2g after, I will highly consider getting this phone. However, if they do the usual "unlimited" BS marketing where they will shut you off after 50MB a day or 2GB a month then this will be a worse deal than the $49 sim swap trick for AT&T phones.

Actually, AT&T brands their HSPA 14.4mbps and up devices as 4G.
    Examples: Atrix 4G, Infuse 4G, Inspire 4G
They commonly refer to their HSPA+ network as 4G.

That doesn't prove it either way of course..

On the newer phones, they even display 4G when its connected to HSPA+. (It says 4G with LTE in small letters over it on LTE)

That doesn't prove it either way of course..

    Thanks for the update.
I wondered why AM put the Optimus Net on Net10 put not on ST when they put the Optimus Q in both.
Looks like it is coming but was just delayed.
I also find it funny but encouraging that ST of all the PAYG/MVNOs would be the one to jump full bore in to Androids when most of the others beat them to it but did almost nothing after. ST was late to the poker game but seems to be winning the pot when it comes to providing the most and bets variate of low cost/entry level phones up to high cost/hi quality phones. When I speak of MVNOs I mean PURE MVNOs. Not places like AT&T or TM or Verizon where you can buy a phone/ any phone and use it on their contract or PAYG side.

When this is all said and done, ST will have 5 Androids. Good on Straight Talk. I hope the put a huge dent in the big 4.

Any news on a release date yet? Excited about these new phone and that they hopefully will be running on T-mobile/AT&T, little worried about the new plans that maybe coming along with them though... I wanted one of the androids when they first came out but I was worried about the Sprint coverage being spotty in my area...

They're going to be offering it for $279. They also have the Precedent(Prevail) for $149 which is the same price ST has it for. Is it reasonable to think ST will price the phone similarly?

If so, do you think the 2X will be around $299?

I bet it will be a while before it comes to straight talk.. Even though these will run on sprint towers they will want them to be on the market for a bit with their own company "boost" before letting straight talk release them..

I found this about the G2x which I believe is the same as the Optimus 2x.. under T-mobile news, http://www.tmonews.com/2012/01/t-mob...f-life-status/ Which maybe why it is going to ST with in a year of coming out.. Makes me wonder about this phone now..
