I got my OTA notice today. I will install it when I am at home.

Except for losing Root, everything superfically seems normal. I will wait a few days to see if things have changed before trying to reroot.

Yeah, I applied the OTA to the Bionic and it lost Root in the process. Wondering if the same one-click program for Windows will be able to Root it again, or it has to be updated?

Good question. I will look in the Roor thread to see if there is an answer, if not may in the XDA bionic section?
I wonder if everyone has gone to post in the RAZR or Nexus threads?

I just got it this morning. According to the official notes, it's just a bug fix release. http://support.verizonwireless.com/p...oid_bionic.pdf

So far no freezing of the phone and random reboots. I have not seen any changes in 4G reception.
FAUguy or anyone else who took the OTA have you tried to reroot the phone?

I too have not seen any improvement in signal reception, as the Bionic (and Razr) are flaky when trying to hold a 4G signal and end up changing between it and 3G back-and-forth every few minutes.

I double checked, and after the OTA update was applied, the Bionic did lose Root, even though Super User, and others are still installed. But when going to Titanium Backup it does give an error saying that Root is not present. I guess I'll have to check XDA to see if others have been able to root after downloading the OTA before I attempt it myself.

Let me know if that or something else will work for rerooting, FAUguy. I find it strange that the superuser app is still there but unuseable.

Maybe never. Motorola is only promising it to RAZR folks:

Does Verizon also state that only the RAZR will get ICS? I suppose that XDA will have one out in a few months.

You could, you know, quote what motorola actually said rather than what some reactionary article decided to state.

We are planning on upgrading as many of our phones as possible. The ability to offer the upgrade depends on a number of factors including the hardware/device capabilities, the underlying chipset software support, the ICS support and then the ability to support the Motorola value add software. We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR by Motorola, Motorola RAZR, Motorola XOOM (including Family Edition) and DROID BIONIC to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices.
The Bionic will absolutely get ICS, there's really no question about that.

As the source of the "reactionary" article. ... further research indicates that Motorola OMAP phones will be the most likely to get ICS because the OS was templated on that line of processors and so the upgrade will be easier to do.
    I think the Bionic qualifies?

The question is when? The Bionic is almost 3 months out and only had one intended OTA.

If I were to guess March would be it for ICS.
