So, currently, to get on the internet, download http://www.deathtrip.org/misc/straight2_1.ipd, do SB Legacy Restore Mode and use BB Desktop to copy over the IPD file to the phone? Is this correct?

Has anyone used the GMail app?

my service books include all regular bb functions including bbm and person email setup
these are not stolen. home made...by myself

There is no BBM support without an active PIN, so that's moot.

Anyway, I've not had enough time to mess with the Service Books more to get MMS working... I don't have a Straight Talk plan/phone so it's hard for me to do anything.

Yes, http://www.deathtrip.org/misc/straight2_1.ipd will work for the Browser, also be sure to change the phone's APN, then in Browser Options, set the browser to "deathtrip".

i got a friend at ATT who can access the st account on the ATT system and do changes...hopefully ST dosent catch it because my bb has BIS on it

Bis comes with an active pin on all provisers who offer it, but the problem is, straight talk doesn't have any options for blackberry or bis. Now, activating the pin can be done via at&t but it doesnt have too much to do with the straight talk account.

Does anyone know about getting a torch to work? I really love my phone... just wanna be cheap lol. my text and calls work fine with my straight talk sim just no net without wifi and no mms at all i am a big texter and fb junkie!! So you can see this does cause a bit of an inconvience for me. I have edited the apn and still nothing as well as hunting for service books.

The service books are on this page, just read above.

Use the att.mvno apn and everything you described works. Not the FB app, but Facebook mobile

I'd just recommend getting an HTC Inspire or Samsung Infuse and sell your blackberry.
It seems like ST is going to stick with Nokia and the Symbian platform. I don't see them selling a BlackBerry anytime soon. Therefore no BIS and a practically useless BB.
The Android based phone ST sells would be better than the best BB that could only make calls and texts rather than do it all, including mms and data.

The phone has a locked SIM, it won't work. Only the ST Nokia smartphones have unlocked SIM cards which can be used in another GSM phone.
