    Remove backup assistant from E815 phone

    Hi- The backup assistant on my e815 Motorola phone has stopped working for some time now. I get "backup assistant has encountered an error and must close" every time. Apparantly I need to update the software. However, the application does not have a "cancel subscription" or "delete" or '"remove" option or anything that might suggest an uninstall. The download of updated software will not happen as long as it sees the app already on the phone. Verizon suggest a hard reset to remove it but I do not want to lose my pictures, speed dials etc. that I have on there now. Anyone know of a way to remove the app without a hard reset?

    If you remove Back Up Assistant from the E815,

    and

    if the only way to re-download Backup Assistant is through Get It Now,

    and

    if it's been a long time since you've used the E815 to connect to Get It Now,

    No, I am able to access the catalog. Backup Assistant will not download however as it sees that it is already installed on the phone. Since I can't cancel, remove, whatever the current copy on the phone, I can't get the latest version. And I don't want to hard reset the phone...

    Unfortunately what you want to do and what you may have to do are two completely different things.

    Sorry.

    Check your My Verizon account, see which contacts are and aren't backed up, enter whichever ones aren't, do a CSV back up file (just for that added bit of mental security) and hard reset your device. You'll then be able to re-dl backup assistant and everything should push down from the web site. The CSV backup is just safety incase something goes really left of center wrong.
