I know I have not done anything close to tether and for them to accuse me of it for having one high month so far out of 14 months I've had att is complete crap.
Being civil, even if what is alleged isn't true, is the key here. CS reps aren't trying to make your life difficult, they merely offer solutions to a problem. You may not agree with them at times, but they are doing their job as they are instructed to. My point is being a jerk by yelling at a CS rep isn't helping anything.

According to a previous poster, if you call in and agree to not tether your phone anymore, they will allow you to stay on your unlimited plan. If you do nothing, they will apparently switch you to the limited tethering plan.

I got an SMS today from AT&T on this (last connected ~January on MyWi)
I called in and asked what was going on - figuring that it was based on usage (ie, my usage was ~1.8 GB/month last fall, then has been ~3-5GB since Xmas).
    AT&T... your world, throttled.

Did they say if they will let you keep your unlimited plan?

Well, the only other carrier worth going to for me would be T-Mobile. I had VZW many years ago, and won't go back. Sprint doesn't appear to have a clear (no pun intended) future (iDEN, CDMA2000, WiMAX, LTE ) - and I still have issues here in Santa Clarita with data going to 1x, or no data at all - even when I'm 1 block from their cell site.

This whole thing is nothing more than a PLOY to get Grandfathered unlimited users OFF the network.

On a side note what is your ARPU to the users who have been notified!?

That's not how it works. The $200 phone doesn't have a $200 subsidy, more like $400. They should give you the subsidy in cash / credit if you don't take a device. It would be beneficial to everyone. They don't offer it though, so I do it myself. Buy the subsidized phone, sell it on eBay. I would make more money if they just gave me the full subsidy in cash/credit, though.

It's quite a shame that I have to worry about tethering now. I'm on $10 unlimited data and use less than 200MB/month most of the time. Whenever I tether it's for something really small and quick, never downloading or streaming anything.

I switched to vzw recently due to att suckage.

But if I got this I would stop tethering and download Ubuntu images to my phone all day until they cut me off.

And this attitude is why we can't have nice things.
