Update: The balance of my iPhone held steady all day yesterday after disabling FaceTime. I checked late last night and it was at $10.60.

    This morning it's at $8.50. A drop of $2.10, or 14 * $0.15.

Downloading iOS 4.3.3. Will try to restore.

Could you please call Customer service and ask what is the destination of those mysterious SMS?

It will help us solve those mysterious charges.

In my case, when I called Customer services, they told me those SMS were sent from my phone to its own number.

Do yuo have a youtube account? If you do and have logged into it with the native app, that may be another process that is sending out SMS. Could disable that in Settings->General->Restrictions, in addition to making sure both Game Center options and Ping and FaceTime are off there too (and facetime is also off under Settings->Phone).

The last time I had the mysterious charges, everything was OFF except for the Safari browser.

I disabled everything else, including wifi, bluetooth, game center, apps, itunes, location services, youtube, etc. and still have those mysterious charges inflicted in one night by an amount of something like $15

Someone has mentioned earlier that he had installed a firewall application to keep track of these things, any update?

Called in to inquire about the $2.10 drop.

Turns out that when I added the Flex Plan 25 yesterday, the pro-rated it to end on my current anniversary date on May 14. Instead of taking $25.00 from my balance, they took $8.25 to set up the Flex Plan.

The $2.10 came today at 6:00 AM. It was the monthly charge of $7.00 for UMB pro-rated the same as above. It just didn't happen at the same time.

I was suspicious as the $2.10 charge is divisible by the $0.15. Turns out it was just a coincidence.

BTW, I performed the update to 4.3.3 and it automatically re-enabled FaceTime for me and I got dinged $0.15 when the phone rebooted. It's been disabled *again*.

In your case, $2.10 was taken in one shot for the UMB? As far as I know, the charge for UMB is $0.25 deducted on a daily basis, not once per month. That seems strange!

The Flex Plan rate for UMB is $7, deducted monthly. The $2.10 charge was the pro-rated amount.

I did not know the flex plan UMB is deducted $7 once a month unlike the regular plan that deducts 25 cents on a daily basis.

No idea, but I can report that today the daily unlimited browser option is gone when I visit the self serve menu from my phone and select "add a feature". Instead there is just an option called "Internet Browser". When I click it I get:

    Internet Browser
You can access the internet from your PC mobile phone by signing up for our internet browsing feature. This feature costs $10 per month and gives you 100MB/month worth of browsing capabilities.

    Price: $10/month

My guess is that it'll be grandfathered for a while. The CSRs I spoke to said they have no plans to discontinue them.

The website online activation is now working but new price in place now....so I suppose I still have 20Cents per minute talk instead of the new 25 cents and the 25 cents per day internet browser since I activiated the card yesterday.

Happy to report no unwanted charges since yesterday.

Also my number port went through so I'm committed now. Let's hope that they'll allow us to keep our grandfathered plans for a good while!
