    Exclamation Rogers Dell Streak

Hello all, im just about at my wits end with this I really want a streak but not with 1.6 and I don't want to root it to do so(2.2). My beef is that I have read just about everywhere and there is no word about Rogers updating the streak to 2.2 its all USA and UK nothing from Canada. I hope someone with some news about the update can confirm, ill buy it if i knew for sure that Rogers was going to update to 2.2. Any insight would be fantastic.

Yes I did see that but tell me when and IF Rogers puts out an official 2.2 update how will you get that? and what features do not work by applying this 2.2 via QDL these are things I have read about these "ROMS"

LOL why wait for rogers to release an official update? even if they release one it will be the same froyo and by that time, gingerbread and/or ice cream should be out... froyo came out with a couple of bugs mainly wifi connectivity and gps (good thing I didnt get them although gps would take longer to lock in at location but theres a fix for it) but having flash, swype and a better overall os its worth the risk..

but QDL TOOL is dangerous and could brick your phone.. if youre hesitant then wait for the official release.. att in the us should get it in jan 2011.. rogers? maybe never

1.6 was not bad.. it was well, u know, plain.. it did its job but it was vanilla.. it was missing good stuff like swype, flash, some apps u cant run with older os.. etc.. etc.. oh and the keyboard on it was garbage.. it has a numeric keypad on the right side so much like a real keyboard.. 2.2`s keyboard is so much better.. those things made me go and install froyo.. cant wait for gingerbread

The dell.com website has streaks for $399 right now, with free shipping I believe. These devices are also sold unlocked, so whenever dell released the 2.2 update you'll be eligible to get it.

If you have someone you can ship to in the states, just order one from dell.com. If not, look into a forwarding service... It'll probably still be cheaper than buying a canadian phone.

Its Rogers. They may or may not update to froyo. If you really want it that bad, buy it from dell.com. So you be eligible to update to the official froyo.

Or do what i do, buy it from rogers - and flash a custom froyo ROM (DJ Steve). Works great and its waaayyy better than 1.6.

That is crossing my mind but im reading that with these "ROMS" some features don't work ...ie GPS, WIFI connection flaky is there truth to this?

As long as you flash a new baseband on the the new ROM (1.5.1), you shouldnt have any issues. My wifi connection is rock solid just like it was on 1.6.

My only issue thus far are:

    - Swype and Android KB FC whenever you try to add a word to the dictionary. Adding it manual through settings has the same result.
    - My wifi hotspot doesnt work atm. Following the thread on XDA, it seems like im the only one thats having problems with it. USB tethering works great. So, YMMV
    - Battery discharge is the same with my milestone running 2.1

Rogers Wireless at Yorkdale Mall has 2 kinds of cases and screen protectors for the Dell Streak
    and
Wireless Wave at Yonge and Bloor subway station has Otterbox Commuter Case for the Dell Streak and they also sell authentic Kingston 32GB class 4 microSDHC memory cards. Replaced my 16gb with a Kingston 32gb and everything is working great!

    Hope this helps.
