With that said, I find it unlikely that Dish would be willing to sell any spectrum they’re hoarding. They seem to enjoy clogging airwaves by not doing anything.
I feel that if T-Mobile and sprint merge , it might force Verizon’s hand to buy more spectrum. It’s obvious they’re the carrier that is most congested when a significant number of users are occupying a macro site. Supposedly dish has until April of next year to deploy 70 percent of their spectrum or they face consequences from the FCC. We shall see

Around me T-Mobile just converted a lot of two gees sites to 4G without changing out any of the antennas or anything. I feel like they are running such a Band-Aid network around me.

This is sadly the case anywhere that didn’t have UMTS/HSPA. The Edge > LTE conversions are mainly PCS-only sites. You are certainly correct of Verizon being significantly father ahead in infrastructure – from macros, small cells, down to fiber.

“Band-Aid network” is a great way to put it, ha.

The new t-mobile will have 3 years to integrate networks under a mandated time line by the FCC. We will see how quick the team can push.. I think Verizon will still be ahead at that point, just not sure by how much... I sure wish we could see the network modeling that the both teams put together

And while T-Mobile and sprint are busy untangling wires at their cell sites, how far behind will they be while Verizon is out lighting up 5G blasting out 1Gbps speeds?

The integration portion of the network will include all NR radios across the network nationwide.. will the new tmo use massive Mimo who knows. That’s why I wish we had insight on their network modeling .. the ability of the new tmo to intergrate 10 thousand of sprints sites is huge imo

Utilization of NR requires Massive MIMO. If the merger is passed, it will certainly be interesting to see how long exactly it will take them to fully integrate everything.

Looks like the odds of it passing are about 50/50 now, and favorability keeps getting lower.

I read somewhere that the amount of Concessions they are having to make could lead to an ineffective merger anyway where T-Mobile doesn’t really gain much in terms of price control or market control or something like that.

Verizon won’t buy Dish they’ll just buy the spectrum they have to deploy. AT&T will have the same opportunity to grab it too.

Verizon needs it far more than AT&T.

I just wish vz would expand fios FTTH again

It's crazy when LTE and DirecTV are more reliable than cable broadband

My friend had to use his vzw phone has a hot spot 4x last week due to random cable outages . NO one should have to suffer with cable broadband

Nice, so massive Mimo it is.. after the White House making another clear statement that they want this merge it put Makan Delrahim in a tough spot ( for political reason, we all know politics can be dirty at times) so, as of yesterday. Sources are coming out saying the fcc/doj anti-trust are aligned, but more concession are on the table. More years on a price look are rumored, no word yet of any spectrum to be part of the divesture

Agreed at least for my area. But I would like to see AT&T get the B29 spectrum, since they already have the other 5MHz now.

Verizon prepaid while watching the blue angles flight demonstration in Annapolis Wednesday. Data was usable when we first got there but an hour before the show data was useless, til we left the area. Connected to band 2 the whole time. Name: 5A06716D-3C0D-46C5-AD0D-64ED84C49F4C.jpg
