    Windows phone and apps?

I'm contemplating on getting a new Dell windows phone and it's been a long time for me, I have a few questions. The new Microsoft site doesn't really work yet.

    1. Will a Windows phone have alerts while in standby like Android?
    2. Will I be able to get push gmail?
    3. Will there be turn by turn nuvi like navigation available or included?
    4. It looks like updates come from Microsoft and don't have to go through the various manufactures and carriers for approval, is that accurate?

Your question is a bit more than just apps

    1. Yes it has alerts and they work very well.
    2. The reason I went to WP7 was for push email. Android handles Gmail well but not Exchange nor Hotmail. Email show up on my phone within seconds of someone sending it - this includes Gmail and Yahoo. Android was 15mins for nonGmail.
3.I haven't seen it built in yet or haven't figured it out on my Rogers Samsung Focus. I think AT&T has an app built in looking through the user manual.
There are apps in the Marketplace already.
4.I think you are correct - from M$ instead of the carrier.3

With Windows Phone 7, you can connect and play with friends on Xbox LIVE wherever or whenever.

It has GPS and a built-in Map app that is good but unfortunately no turn-by-turn yet...

There is a rumour that the first WP7 update may come on monday...
