Streak coming to Rogers?

Interesting news of the Streak maybe coming to Rogers soon. Little late in the game but with hopefully 2.2 on it there could be new life there.

Is the smartphone the king of computers? What about a super-fast netbook? Combining both, Dell has added a new computer king contender with its slick Streak tablet that will not only replace your netbook, but maybe your smartphone, too.

Think of it as a cross between an iPad and a touchscreen smartphone. Its five-inch display rivals your best monitor for gaming, reading news and browsing the mobile internet; but, unlike the iPad, this device also doubles as a phone, meaning you don’t have to carry a cell as well. Clearly, bigger really is better.

SIZE MATTERS

At 15 cm long, 8 cm wide and with a 5-inch touchscreen, the Streak is the largest smartphone on the market. But that’s not a bad thing here, as this device doubles as both a phone and a tablet with full-size, QWERTY keyboard.

VIDEO KING

Watching a YouTube video is more enjoyable on a larger-sized device, as is browsing through virtual newspapers, playing games and all the other things we’ve come to expect from a brilliant monitor. Except this one is lightweight, too.

FURIOUSLY FAST

Running the rapid, easy-to-use Android OS means you can download a swath of apps – many you won’t find in other smartphone app stores – onto the fully customizable home screen. Of course, adding shortcuts to files and programs is also easy.

SPACE SAVER

At first glance it may seem like the Streak, which comes with just 2 GB of storage, doesn’t have a lot of memory. But an SD slot allows you to add up to 32 more gigs in a snap. That translates into 16,000 songs and about 42 full-length flicks.

SHARP SHOOTER

Like a phone but unlike the iPad, the Streak has a 5-megapixel autofocus camera. The dual LED flash makes it easy to take pics in the dark and, thanks to the device’s bigger size, it feels more like a point and shoot. Uploading pics to Facebook or Flickr is simple, too. But it doesn’t end there: the Streak also features an additional front-facing VGA camera.

wonder if Dell.ca will start selling the unlocked version... Rogers might have it locked, even if you buy it without their subsidy.
