    Can't clear G2 voicemail notification

Ever since I powered up my G2 the first time I have a voicemail notification icon in the status bar. I can't remove it. I have no voicemail.

I've tried resetting the phone but that didn't help.

    ANyone else with this problem?

    How can I fix?

    Thanks!

I tried this plus I tried a suggestion from the official T-mobile forums: Toggle the voicemail provider between T-mobile and Google Voice and make sure that there are no voicemails left.

neither option cleared the setting form me :-(

    Any other ideas?

I do not have VVmail installed, so that could not do it. Any others ideas out there?

    Thumbs up

first start by deactivating the google voice on your phone. using the dialer, place a call to

    ##004#

next, using the dialer, (assuming you use t-mobile) place a call to

    123

or whatever standard voicemail number you'd call -- possibly your own mobile number, or 1. this will call your standard voicemail mailbox (instead of google voice), and let you check and delete any messages - thus successfully clearing the icon. be patient; give it a minute to update the voicemail icon notifier, or reboot your phone if you're still not sure it'll go away.

Then re-activate google voice on your phone. using the dialer, place a call to

    *004*1aaabbbcccc#

--- where aaabbbcccc is your area code+ phone number. enjoy.

Voice-mail icon did not disappear after the first two steps. G2 Tmobile.
