Well, yesterday I was so tempted after trying out the Samsung Galaxy phone at a bell store that I called up Bell to negotiate a move from Telus. This is what Bell (the small business plan) offered after a little bit of persistence :
    350 Daytime mins
    Unlimited calling @ 6pm and w/e
    Voice mail , Caller id
    6gb data
all for $60 + tax on a 3 year term
They are also throwing in a $150 credit for porting the number from competitor, which would basically make the Samsung Galaxy phone free.
For me the deal breaker was that there is no text messaging included and I think the plan as offered is worth $45 ish.

when you get time put a short review up on the following thread. http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...64677-Galaxy-S

Was seriously thinking about the Vibrant, but have swung back to the Desire..

I'm thinking of porting two lines over to Bell, here's what I was offered:
    700 shared minutes
    Free national calling between lines
    Calls free after 9pm
    Free caller I.D.
    Free voice mail 5
    6 gb of data
All for $60 a month per line
    $150 hardware credit per line
    $85 activation credit per line
I need at least 2500 texts but that is $10 pushing the monthly cost to $70 per line.

Telus L & R wouldn't guarantee that the bonus 5 gigs of data would stay after the 3 year contract is up.

I'm thinking of switching over 2 lines as well. Contract ends on the 10th.
If I can get activation fee waived, plus message center/ caller ID free on their 50$ voice and data plan for both lines I'm in.

Of course any additional freebies would be greatly appreciated.

My 'new' 3 year old Telus contract actually expired in March, but I've been too lazy about getting anything done to change it. It's surprising that a three year old plan with service access fees is better than what they currently offer to new customers.

I wouldn't mind moving to a data plan with caller ID and voice mail. I could go for as little as 100 anytimes minutes if it had 6PM unlimited. $50/month.

I currently have the following with the plan ending early in Dec:

    Talk 40 (350+350): $40
    5 pm Early E/W: $9
    SAF & 911: $8
    500 Mb Data: $25
    L&R Unlimited text
    L&R Unlimited incoming
    L&R Business Bundle 10 (VM10, CID)
    L&R 200 LD

My Daughter and her Mother each have the old Insider plan ($25 includes SAF/911/200 min/6pm EEW/VM3/CID/Unlimited Text)

I would be VERY happy just to keep this as above, and exchange the $25 data plan with the $30/6Gb. I am willing to purchase the phone outright (Desire, or unlocked Bell: Galaxy S). Having said that, I'm prepared to jump over to Bell/Rogers if something like these can be set up.

have 2 telus lines, both out of contract ( 10 years with telus now )

definitely looking to port over for $50+tax all inclusive for:

    200 minutes daytime
    unlimited incoming
    6pm e/w
    500gb+ data/month
    caller id
    voicemail 3
    1000+text/month ( or unlimited )
    100min+ LD/month ( North America )

almost considering one of the new AWS upstarts to switch both accounts over, as all communication with Telus always tries to switch me to their new plans which are really unattractive.

willing to buy new hardware outright, or sign contract.

    Ditto.

FYI, for anyone who doesn't know (I didn't until about an hour after I was playing with it) it isn't the T-Mobile Vibrant, it's actually almost the regular Galaxy S GT-I9000M. The difference being the M part, which makes it slightly harder to find the proper root for it.

I tried them awhile back (6-7 months) without any luck. Who knows, might be worth trying again. Someone could try as a group of HOFO.

You can cancel me out from the defection. I got what I wanted for the price I wanted from Telus. I voted for the $50 option so you can subtract 1 from that total.

Hello, everyone. As an update, I've started dialog with Bell and Rogers via email and am currently awaiting responses. I did the try Bell's face-to-face and telephone channels but I don't think they have sufficient authority to grant what we're looking for.

Coolio. Fingers crossed. Got my list down to three possible phones, so I'm ready to jump at any moment
