If android doesn't meet my needs, I'd dump it in favor of the N8 in a NY minute. I don't really understand what you mean by "does that make any sense".

I can't imagine what needs an N8 would will that any highend Android device wouldn't.

12MP camera? LOL It is all about that camera on the N8. I cannot imagine for a NY second Symbian will be any different than it was on the N97. All in all if Sony and Samsung did not abandon Symbian in favor of Android I might have waited to read the early adopter threads on the N8. I actually liked the N97 flaws and all. But the OS cannot be compared in any way to Android..

That's strange. I did the update and expected to have to rebuy some apps. When I went to the marketplace the apps I bought showed up as purchased and I just downloaded them. The Ap market "remembered" which Apps were purchase via Google Marketplace. I am using AppBrain now as well.

Anyone here that have the AT&T Samsung Captivate Unlocked and using it on Rogers?

Do you guys have any issues using the unlocked device on Rogers? Things that are supposed to work normally that don't work because it is unlocked?

I'm very interested in the captivate, and was wondering how the task manager for it is? Is it similar to the one on the samsung epic in which when the "home" button is long pressed a list of running apps appear in which you can decide what to close or leave open?

Yes it is. Although you really shouldn't have to use it. If an app is making you use it, then it's a bad app.

Maybe you missed all the other posts. All apps you bought are yours, associated to your Google account. Permanently. Buy
X number of Android phones, you buy one, you can install it on all for "free" the moment you login your Google account on each Android phone. Even if you don't install them on a new phone, they will always be marked purchased on the Market. If you changed your brand of Android phone to HTC or Motorola or LG, the apps are still yours. If you change your carrier or moved to another country, the apps are still yours.

You cannot however, transfer these apps if you sold your Android to someone else. You have to reset and clear the phone, so the next owner will login his or her Google account and bring his and her unique set of owned apps with it.

This is different from the Blackberry or Nokia world where app licensing is by device, not owner. If I buy 3 Nokia devices, and want to install Gravity in all of them, I have to buy it separately three times.

I just got my Captivate and it's pretty awesome, replacing an iPhone 3GS. The only concern I have right now is that when I plug the phone into my PC I am unable to use the phone. Is there a setting I can change to fix that?

Wait for 2.2 for the GPS fix.
