Do You Pay The Toll for The Person Behind You?

When you're on a toll road, such as going over a bridge, do you pay the toll for the person behind you, just to be nice?

If not, maybe it's something you should think about doing. It would be a nice, easy way, to express kindness to strangers.

I think you need to add an option for those of us that live in places with no toll roads.

Yeah, it can get costly, that's for sure. But, what if you were to actually pay that $5 for someone, and then they were nice enough to pay the next car, and so on. Wouldn't that be a nice thing to see? Do you remember, not that long ago, on the news there was someone that paid for coffee for the next customer in line, and the next customer did the same, and this went on for DAYS! I think it was national news, and not local, so you might remember hearing about it. It was such a nice thing seeing how someone that was willing to do something so little made such an impact on all of the other customers. That would just make my day thinking that someone was kind enough to put out a few extra dollars to be kind to someone else.

    I never thought of that!

Sorry, but I don't think I can edit it now. I wasn't thinking about that at the time. There are plenty of toll roads around here, so that's why I did that.

    Nope!
It just adds up at each booth. I don't use EZPass or Fasttrak so it adds up...

No toll booths here , however once and while I'll pay for the person's order behind me at Tim Horton's . It's usually after someone has paid for mine .

The thought never even occurred to me, the act has never happened to me. Could be because the bridge is $8?

If there was a cute girl behind me or somehow the person behind me let me in while I was changing lanes, then yeah.

But then again, we don't have toll roads here.

There are no toll roads in WI yet, and I dont go out of the state often but IL is the only state I had to pay tolls in.

Went on a 850 or so mile trip recently though WI IL IN OH and KY and IL was the only state with tolls. Actually was about $10 in tolls to drive through each time. I think the most expensive toll was $3.

In WI our high tax on gas/fuel is what keeps tolls off our highways and roads. I think thats what more areas should do but to each their own. Gas is still $2.90/gal here for regular and in many states its $2.20, $2.30/gal. I filled up fuel in Ohio at $2.45/gal and in KY at $2.59/gal and then saw KY gas for $2.40 after I paid $2.59...

But... I dont think I would pay for the toll for the person behind me unless I knew who they were... if someone paid for my toll I would be temped to track them down and ask why...

The 407 is great, I still don't have a transponder after 2 years

But in the States it's crazy, I remember driving to PA to see a family friend. I lost track of how many tolls I had to go through. The good thing about it was the highways are actually nice and well maintained. Guess the money is going to good use.
