    Question Question About Xperia X10

Tried searching for an answer to my question with no suffice.

Can this phone be softmodded/"jailbroken" like how other Android-powered phones can?

I assume you mean "rooted" and the answer is probably yes, but I don't believe anybody has yet. I'm sure it will be in a little while though.

Apparently, "Paul" one of the guys that is very good at rooting android phones said that the x10 is really difficult to root. He says it's nothing he's ever seen before... but that just means it may take longer but it WILL be done. Someone is always up for a challenge.

Yep, root is possible right now, but it's difficult b/c it's not the usual way of rooting so they're working to make it more easily doable.

Well, it seems the root is here but there is no way to write the modified files back on the phone

Unless somebody can break RSA 1024 encryption

Another way to get root will be a kernel exploit but looks like SE did a good job patching all the wholes

If SE can do a decent job to get it updated to 2.2, then there is no need to all these hack and root stuff.

    I WANT MY 2.2.

Except you will have to wait until end of the year... which means early next year. I'd rather have a root now.

I don't even want to imagine what devices will be on the market at that time running 2.2.

    X10 will get 2.1 not 2.2.
This was the last "official" comment from SE.

Now, everyone hopes will be 2.2 and will bring MT (which will never happen knowing SE reputation)
