I get paid on the 12th and 27th of each month. My pay is based primarily on performance however I am guaranteed a fixed minimum/day.

pay off the credit card at the end of the day. my bank takes 48-72 hours to update the account, but some banks do it within 24 hours. as soon as the balance is posted pay it off. that way your credit score is being built and you can keep track of your fiances.

I have been paid bi-weekly or weekly at every job except for one that paid once a month but it was a second job so wasn't a big deal .

If you are still unemployed getting paid once a month is better than zero times a month. I would take it and keep looking for something better if that is the case.

Another benefit to this is that you get loyalty points/dollars from using your credit card.

I remember asking my ex-girlfriend why she used her debit card for ~$20 purchases when she had a credit card and the place accepted credit cards. She informed me that it was to make sure that she only used the money that she had in her account and she wouldn't overspend.

I told her that she should pay with her credit card and once she got home, she could easily make an internet bill payment in the exact amount that she spent. The end result to her bank account would be the same... pay $30 on credit card for groceries and when you arrive at home/work, make an internet bill payment of $30 from your chequing/saving account. Your chequing/savings account goes down by the same $50 as if you had used your debit card and you get loyalty points/dollars for using quite a few credit cards.

i ask because im looking at a job that pays once a month. I'm not so sure if i can do that TBH. Im in despair for work to make ends meet, and this is my best bet.
I'm paid every 2 weeks. I like this although when I was working full-time and had a part-time evening job, I used to get money every week which was a lot better (both jobs paid me once every 2 weeks but the pay week did not match for both jobs).

Some people who work at the same company that I work at (they get paid by a different employer) get paid twice a month... on the 1st and the 15th of every month. I prefer every 2 weeks because a few times in the year, I will receive 3 pays in the month.

I think that if you can manage your money properly, it shouldn't make a difference whether you get paid every week, every two weeks, or once a month. It takes a lot of discipline the less often you get paid.

Biweekly, hourly wage. Also a comission every 2 pay checks. Makes good as drinking money .

Like it was mentioned above, don't get cash with you. However I'd suggest using a credit card but which has a limit of 500$ or so. Debit would be even better because you can actually see your money going down, but you won't be getting any credit history that way unfortunately.
Prepaid is to contract like a mistress is to a wife. No wonder so many people don't want contracts

One thing that bothers me about being paid monthly, is the tax. Obviously, you have a bigger amount at the end of the month - a huge tax amount will be taken out as well.

Id rather get paid bi weekly and get dinged with a smaller amount of tax.

once a month is the standard around here.... so:

    get paid,
    go to the casino,
put max bet on roulette table,
win or lose determines whether stingy month or fat month....

no seriously, going out to eat in the US is a killer expense man, you spend 8 or 10 a day on food alone, its a huge waste of money. just go to the grocery store and buy some supplies for the week, you can eat as well for 1 or 2 dollars a meal making it yourself. i see so many people dead broke from doing just that- eating subway or something every meal.... learn to eat from the groceries and you wont have a problem budgeting any longer.... well unless you smoke, drink, or gamble!

I get paid bi-weekly hourly. We also get bonuses quarterly throughout the year (thats if we make plan and metrics.)

Once I graduate, more than likely my job will be paying me once a month. I'm a little worried about it since I'm not the most responsible person with cash. But I think I would make sure I pay all my bills, buy a gas gift card, buy enough groceries, and try to save some for an emergency.
