    Policy on remote replacement?

Our remote is very old, words, digits and symbols on most buttons are completely worn off. AT2000-4 - we rent the box $4.49/mo
Last time our box failed and we exchanged it [told to go to Rogers store], they would not exchange the remote with it which was already well worn. Now 3-4 years later. Impossible for anyone who is not familiar with it.
How often do they replace? Is there a fee? Better to try eBay?

I'm surprised Rogers hasn't contacted you yet about replacing it.

At the end of last year, I got mailings and calls from Rogers saying I needed to trade in my 2000 for a newer model (I've had mine since 1999). I ended up getting a refurbished 1840 as the replacement. When I did that, I kept my original remote. I was told by my associate you can exchange the remote with another one. Otherwise, Rogers will bill you.

Did you go to a Rogers dealer, or did you go to one of their cable centres?

if the buttons arent working, they usually replace it no questions asked.. now if it was just cosmetical damage, ie scratches, or worn out, they tend to shy away from replacing to save on unnecessary inventory loss.

I never ask questions replacing remotes as long as you have your old one,
all the buttons are there, and it is still in one piece. Sometimes people like
to keep their old remotes since they are already programmed to their TV.
