    Buying Used Blackberry Question

I have a friend who has an iPhone and is looking to trade/buy a used Bold 9700 off Kijiji or something like that. People have been telling him that if you buy one, you have to get one brand-new or BBM won't work? I asked a friend who bought one used off Kijiji and he says his BBM worked and it was pretty well used. I was just wondering how the BBM factored into buying a used Blackberry? Does it have to be brand new for BBM to work or how does the whole thing work?

They just have to make sure the PIN is released, i.e. not tied to any BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) account.

EPP dude, and that's not my current plan. It's the old 2GB Smartphone plan, I was on this new plan for one day then switched back because Bell didn't include unlimited texting on the new ones. I've just been too lazy to update my signature

    Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9700/5.0.0.545 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/331)

Yea I have the same 2GB plan from where I work, too. Back on topic, how would he be able to check if the PIN is blacklisted/tied to a BIS account?

Here is a link about buying buying a used BB from eBay. No matter where you buy it, a used BB is a used BB and it isn't as simple as buying a cell phone.

Check it out as it has some really good info, some of which has already been posted here.

One other option is to check out the classifieds here on HF. Why take a risk with Kijiji / CL / eBay when the guys on here are pretty trustworthy?
I buy and sell iphones / blackberries etc. etc. all the time through here. Met some great people and got some smoking deals.
    Would highly recommend it.
