Nebraska markets cutting over to VZW switch 3/27?

Not sure if this is just a market-specific change, but today the 3-way calling 'standardization' occurs in at least the former Alltel market in Omaha. Then, over the weekend I noticed a big mailer indicating voicemail was changing on 3/27. Anyone know whether this also means we're being cut over to the VZW switch on that date, and are these dates only specific to Omaha or is it Lincoln & "greater" Nebraska too?

Hopefully everything will be moved to SID 137. I don't like PCS being preferred in the Lincoln area.

Usually these changes happen in an entire market at once, not just one city/section of a market.

This has already occurred in the Jackson, Mississippi, metro area. There was Alltel on 850mhz and Verizon on 1900mhz. Now most of the Verizon towers are on 850mhz and broadcasting the Alltel SID. So I'd say it's a safe bet that the PCS network will be going away in your area.

Is this affecting text messaging too? I'm having trouble today with getting texts from anyone that's not on verizon. They can receive from me, but I can't get messages from them.

Is it still *228 to update the prl, or has that changed under Verizon?

Well, I tried that, and no luck. I'll have to call Verizon.

Called Verizon the other day, and they reset our phones in the switch. Everything is working well. It was a pretty darned painless support experience. Between this, and getting approval today for an early upgrade to a couple of Droids (should be here early next week) and smartphone plans, I have to say I've had good early experiences with Verizon.
