Hi All,

A few weeks ago, I cancelled my wireless account with Rogers effective end-of-day Feb 07 (paying too much for the amount of talking I was doing).
On Wed, Feb 03 I called SpeakOut to ask them to move the number. They said it takes three business days to do it, and by the time they got to it (on Mon, Feb 08), the Rogers account was already inactive and they could not move the number. Needless to say that I was not aware that an account must be active in order to move a number.

Now I'm stuck, with the number lost somewhere in cyberspace between Rogers and SpeakOut.
I had this number for over ten years and it would be a royal pain to have to notify all contacts of a new number, so I would like to keep it.

Has anyone else gone through this? Any suggestion on how to go about it while minimizing costs and effort would be highly appreciated.
