Guys - Thanks a lot for your help and support and the solution! I finally managed to get my droid with metro pcs and most of the things works... gps, internet.. etc. However I cannot download anything from Market apps on 1x but I can download on Wifi. Is there a reason for that in Metro? Also if someone can share MMS settings it would be great.

Also - If someone needs help in Metro specific settings I am willing to post files and help.

what would i put for username in APN settings? would it be [email protected] or http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms?, it isnt listed specifically in the guide. this is how the apn settings on the guide look like:

    Name - Cricket
    APN internet
    Proxy wap.mycricket.com:8080
    Port 8080
    http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
    Password cricket
    Server wap.mycricket.com
    MMSC http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy wap.mycricket.com
    MMS Port 8080
    MCC 310
    MNC 004
    Authentication Type PAP or CHAP
    APN type <Not set>

just need to make sure, thanks

    So close

Alright I think that I am pretty close. I got the ESN in the database, I can make calls fine (in and out) I can text sms fine (in and out). I have the latest PRL (checked my wifes regular cricket phone). I had a problem not getting a terminal so I completely reinstalled SG 6.0.1, got the terminal thing fixed. Followed gijoey1980's guide again. Redownloaded autostart.sh and u2nl. Doubled checked the APN settings and permissions on autostart and u2nl, have autostart.exe downloaded (unless there are two of them) and when I boot the phone with the wireless off, I go to the settings menu and watch the phone cycle down from EVDO 0, EVDO A and then x1. In the shell top shows /system/bin/u2nl and nk.bla.android.autostart.

I tried running ps -ef but I guess ps is not installed. (In hopes to run ps -ef | grep [program name] to see if the process was running)
Anything I might be doing wrong?

Ohh and I am in a good 3G area as well.

Actually I'm pretty sure that the MMS Proxy is mms.mycricket.com not wap.mycricket.com

MMS works and then stops working??? I tested out sending a text message with a subject line which converts it to an MMS and it sent just fine, but then I tried to send a small thumnail image to the same recipient and it just sits there. So I tried to send an MMS with just the subject line again and no image and now that's not working. I am able to received MMS just fine including images although for some reason the message program on the droid acts like the jpg I received is a video. I'm confused by this. I guess if I want to send MMS to people I just have to use the GMail app - it's a shame though.

BTW: I don't know if has already been mentioned but the complete droid/cricket text/talk/web/mms tutorial is available here: http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/gijoey1980.txt

If I need to flash the phone back to verizon, what would I have to do? Would just flashing the prl suffice or would I have to change the NV items aswell? I don't have the blank NV items, are they even used on verizon?

To set the NV items back to verizon settings just go to http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/ and type in the [email protected] You can even use all zeros for the MDN if you don't want to use an actual phone number. Then just write that file to the phone using CDMA workshop.

I think Cricket requires you to use one of their phones for the PayGo service but I may be wrong.

OK i am going to warn you guys flashing Cyanogenmod one more time. it is so friggin' basic that you can't use the Market, Gtalk, Maps, or anything else cool. it takes Clockwork recovery or adb along side another recovery to install the Passion pack (Google Addon: EPE54B link) in order to use these things. you need pretty much all of that pack as the Market has a lot of dependencies

flash Cyanogenmod and be bored or EXPECT to have to do another step

yes the service is the same, just different account options. however they are going to make you use their phone for the PayGo option. there isn't a "customer provided equipment" option but your luck may vary

If that's the case (which I don't understand how that came to be), just:

    1. Download CM through Rom Manager
    2. Extract zip to anywhere on your computer (CM zip should be in /sdcard/clockworkmod/downloads/koush.romraid.com/motorola/sholes
    3. Download Passion Pack
    4. Open Passion Pack with WinRAR and navigate to /system/app and extract wanted apks to the computer.
    5. Inject wanted apks into CM zip in the /system/app directory.
    6. Move modified CM zip back to the clockwork directory as stated in step 2
    7. Install
    8. ???
    9. Profit.

This also works if you want to push files from your sdcard instead of from your computer, and you're needing a file manager like Root Explorer or autostart.apk--you can just put whichever apk into /system/app in whatever ROM you're about to install, and root explorer (for example) will be installed as part of the ROM itself, so you won't need to be hooked up to your computer/need internet to push files. This method essentially gets rid of the need to use adb for the wap/mms part, as root explorer also allows you to set permissions.
