Purchase Eris at Retail & Swap between Droid/Eris

I have a new Droid on contract and "like it". However, I want to give the Eris a try as well. If I purchase an Eris at retail, can I then go on-line to my account and activate it on-line? Basically swap between the Droid and the Eris using the Activate New Phone feature on-line?

Since they will use the same plan, will this screw up my bill with all kinds of prorations or anything? Or can I do this as much as I like during the month?

If I decide to keep the Droid over the Eris, can a retail priced phone then be returned?

    Thanks much.

Yes, within the return policy of VZW for a phone purchased at full retail (I, personally, don't know what that is, but I assume it has to happen within 30 days.)

So I picked up my Eris and simply used *228 from the Eris to activate the phone on my account and deactivate my Droid.

Can I simply do that whenever I want to swap phones? Just dial *228 from the phone I would like to activate?

    Thanks much.

Doesn't he have to go to the website to switch over the ESN/MEID on the line first before he calls *228?

Not between phones of the same level (i.e. smart phone to smart phone - though has to be use same type of plan; not bb to winmo, etc.). You can just use *228 option 3.

Yep, option 3's relatively new, but lets you do easy phone changes (like ones that don't require a plan change) without having to go online or call support.

I have been bouncing back and forth for a few days...

    Pros on the Droid:
    GREAT screen.
    Android OS 2.0
    Physical Keyboard
    App loading speed
    Apps that Eris cannot run
    Did I mention the screen?

    Pros on the Eris:
Great form factor (solid and light)
    HTC Sense. 7 home screens
Little better signal quality (Droid has nothing at work, Eris has a bit)
    HTC Widgits

I am really torn... I will continue to go back and forth for another week and see what happens. So far, I want both!

I really like the look and form factor of the Eris, but don't know that I want an all touch screen phone again. The droid is just so big and boxy.
