I don't know why people post stuff which they have not tested.

This does not work at all for the iPhone.

    1. Download the Apple iPhone Configuration utility from the Apple site (do a Google search for it). This tool will allow you to change the GPRS settings on your iPhone.
    2. Install the iPhone Configuration utility - duh.
    3. Run the iPhone Configuration utility.
    4. Click Configuration Profiles and then click the New button in the tool bar. While you're under the General option, type in the following information:
    Name: Petro Canada Mobility
    Identifier: com.petrocanadamobility.wireless
(You don't need to change anything else)
    5. Click Advanced and type in the following information:
    APN: goam.com
    Access Point User Name: wapuser1
    Access Point Password: wap
    Proxy Server: 172.25.0.107
    and Port: 80
    6. Upload the profile to your iPhone and accept the changes.
    7. That's it - simple!

Seasons Greetings and a Happy New Year.

Umm does using these settings for the past month count as testing? How about posting exactly what the issue is so we can all see your newbness?

    Hey pubicbone,

If you have a Rogers iphone, why not try hard reseting it and see if the factory Rogers settings will work? I did this initially with my Rogers locked touch diamond and I was able to browse right away. My Touch-Flo weather app. didn't work until I entered fishbutt's settings. I remember that the APN (access point) was "internet.com" Rogers' setting, rather than "goam.com".

    Just an FYI

Just wondering if anyone has got all their applications working (facebook, google maps etc), either on the iPhone or any other smartphone. I have a Samsung GT-S5230 and the browsing works fine via both APNs but no dice with the apps. Thanks.

What is the latest on this? Is anyone able to get an Android phone (with the built-in GMail app, calendar app, etc) working with the mobile browsing option?

(I'm looking for a cheap data option -- browsing is great but I really need the GMail connectivity)

I can verify that those settings work on Windows Mobile 6.5. Activated the SIM card just yesterday, activesync (with Google Sync) works, IE works, Google Maps works. What isn't working right now is Opera Mobile and BeejiveIM.

Hmm, I wonder what the current "best" smartphone to use with this plan is. (I.e. something available unlocked or unlock-able on the used market in Canada, where browsing and most apps work with the plan, etc.)

    Hey Ceraf,

Why do you say that you are out of luck for getting this to work on a 3G?

Is there proof that it only works on 2G or 3GS?

That might explain why after all this time, it's still not working for me. =/

    I looked through this thread:
    http://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak...eakout/page-8/

Seems like everyone with a 3G iphone couldn't get it working. I switched to a 2G about a month ago, and it's been working great.

    Nexus One and Petro Can

First of all, if you have a Petro Canada Mobility SIMM, it will work with any Rogers locked phone. O.k., that said, here are your settings for unlimited Petro Canada Web Browsing:

Service Name (or Service): RW WAP
    Connection Type (or Connection): GPRS
    Username: wapuser1
Password: (don't use one, leave blank)
    APN: goam.com

And finally, you need to enter a proxy address (somewhere on your phone or smart phone there will be settings for this - I found the settings on my Palm Treo in the "Preferences" of my web browser program. (Blazer)

    The proxy address is: 172.25.0.107
ad :80 at the end of the above address ie-( 172.25.0.107:80)
unless there is an option to enter a "port number", in that case you enter 80 in the required field.

    Hope this helps all!
I have a Nexus One. Can you tell me where I fill in "Service Name" and "Connection"

    I have entries available for:

    Name
    APN
    Proxy
    Port
    Username
    Password
    Server
    MMSC
    MMS Proxy
    MMS Port
    MNC
    Authentication Type
    APN Type

Where do I set the web browser's home page to http://wap.8582/start.wml
It defaults to Google. Do I have to enter it there?
