    Question Unlocked Phones?

Will an unlocked phone allow access to all the features as a Branded T-Mobile phone?

It depends. Which specific features are you talking about?

Dailing #225# to view your Balance
Dialing #646# to view minutes used and remaining
    Dialing 611 for customer service
    General things like that

All these work on unbranded/unlocked phones. The only thing does not work is My-Fav

All of those numbers should work on an unlocked phone, as long as you buy a phone with the 1900 GSM band. I just tried those with my unlocked phone, and they all work for me.

Those things don't have anything to do with the phone. As long as the phone is capable of being used on a 1900 network you can use it with T-Mobile. If it's not a T-Mobile phone it will likely need to be unlocked.

Only data settings may be affected by not having a T-Mobile branded phone. Even if you don't have a branded phone you can usually have the correct settings sent to your phone over the air.

To be more specific, while you will not get the My Faves interface on an unbranded phone, you can set your faves up on-line and it will work just fine.

You can configure T-Zones to many different phones here.

I bought a used phone yesterday I'm almost positive is unlocked. The seller told me he used it on AT&T (its a T-Mo branded phone). When I put an expired Mexican SIM I'd kept from our last vacation it booted up, searched for signal, changed the phones language to Spanish and showed "AT&T" (TelCels roaming partner) as the provider. Given all of these facts is why I think the phone is unlocked.
What should a locked phone do with a different providers SIM installed?
