    Nokia 5530 Xpress Music Review

Being the first actual (6208 and 7710 were previous Nokia touchscreen models which failed miserably) Nokia touchscreen phone, 5800 Xpress Music became popular even before its release just like iphone, by the name of Nokia Tube. Moreover, its affordable price tag resulted in huge sales making it one of the best selling smartphones. Although, it is a best seller it isn’t flawless-

    * 5800 Xpress Music faced criticism due to its cheap looks considering the high price tag.

    * Majority of cellphone users buy cellphones in the range of Nokia N73.So 5800 Xpress Music is still not affordable for many.

To give answer to these questions Nokia announced a more affordable model in the Xpress Music touch range in a smaller and sleeker package,5530 Xpress Music.5530 is cheaper and more attractive due to its slim body and stainless steel chrome finish.

Differences between 5530 and 5800 Xpress Music-

5530 Xpress Music is almost similar to Nokia 5800 in terms of Operating System as well as features except for the few differences which are mentioned below-

    * The screen size of 5530 Xpress Music is reduced to 2.9 inch against 3.2 inch in 5800.The screen resolution is the same (360x640), so it is not a matter of concern.

    * Nokia 5530 has a new welcome feature, contact bar that let’s you add 20 contacts on your standby screen making it easier to quickly call or send message to 20 most important people.

    * The CPU of 5530 Xpress Music is the same as N97, the Nokia flagship model. CPU clock speed is 434 MHz, much faster than 369 MHz CPU of 5800 Xpress Music. Faster CPU means lesser time to perform cellphone operations. You can browse through menus at blazing high speeds. Applications, games and videos will also run more smoothly.

    * Nokia has cut down 5530 price at the expense of few significant features-The most important is 3G.
    1. I think exclusion of 3G would be a big disappointment for many.3G is more useful than Wi-Fi as it is accessible anywhere. On the other hand Wi-Fi requires Hot-Spot or Wireless router for internet connection.
    2. 5530 Xpress Music lacks GPS (Global Positioning System).GPS helps in step by step navigation by plotting route to your destination.
    3. 5530 has the same 3.2 Megapixel autofocus camera as 5800 but the video recording is of mediocre quality. The maximum video resolution at which the videos can be recorded is 176x220 at 15 fps (frames per second) which is even worse than N73.
    4. Battery backup of 5530 Xpress music is inferior to 5800.Fully charged battery will offer a talk time up to 4.9 hours and music playback time up to 27 hours. For 5800 the figures are 8.5 hours (Talk time) and 35 hours (Music Playback Time).

The rest of the features are same as 5800 Xpress Music.

Among the latest touchscreen smartphones we may call Nokia 5530 express music as the cheapest option in terms of value for money. It is difficult to get a touchscreen smartphone with same set of features at a lower price.
If the exterior (looks and size) plays an important role in your decision and you can manage without 3G and GPS then 5530 is definitely more suitable for you, otherwise 5800 is still a better option as the price difference between the two is minimal and 5800 adds 3G, GPS and DVD quality video recording to the feature list. The current price of 5800 Xpress Music at amazon is $299 which is just $21 more than 5530 Xpress Music.5530 will also see a price drop but it will take time.
So, after 5800, 5530 is the most recommended value for money touchscreen smartphone in the current scenario.

I am so impressed with cellphones/smartphones nowadays. In my younger days, we only had analog phones which could only make calls, not text. And, the prices were too steep! My son has a Nokia Lumia, I have a Tmobile phone

Oh this is bad with this gadget. Without 3G or GPS mobile is like an old device in this recent times.

NOKIA 5530 Xpress Misic-One of the best handset as far as sound quality is concern. But without the 3G and GPS it is worthless.
