    Separate cover. I just looked at a Knack at the store yesterday. The battery was popped in and out (since we were looking at a store model), though, and I don't remember having a great deal of difficulty with it, certainly not as much as some.

    My mom's Verizon Coupe stopped working..... checking out the knack now.
