    Headphones recommendation

My family goes through a lot of headphones on music players... they get broken often. I am going to get them new headphones for Christmas.

What brands/models do you recommend? Basic requirements are

-Regular headphones (not BT) with the mini jack for ipods / sansas
-Durable. cable and connectors that are hard to break-this is the main problem
    -Good (not ultimate) sound quality

The rest of my family is girls, so if there is a brand/model that they would like better that will be good.
Given the all male, locker room ambiance around here, not sure how much I will hear about that one.

    Hmm.

    There's a guide here:

I recommend you take a look on their forums. Just don't get addicted to headphones like me.

Nice. That will keep me busy for a while checking through what is there.

I know I am not spending a lot.I personally appreciate better sound quality, but the 3 recipients of these have proven not care or notice, and also incessantly break the wires of the pairs they have. The issue is really durability, not ultimate sound quality.

Also, in some cases the music player itself barely cost $100, so $70 per pair of headphones would a lot for me, especially when buying 3 pairs.

Thanks again, this is a great lead

    Paul

Epilogue: I was able review, research feedback on a few sites, pick and buy on amazon, all in 1/2 hour. I was within my $20 range including shipping.
Christmas is saved!!! Thanks you jwy

First I will post the ridiculously expensive but top of the line earphones @ UltimateEars with some earphones from $120 to $1200! lol

But for your basic needs just google 'Earphones Headphones with Mic For iPhone 2G iPhone 3G eBay' You can get these for under $5.

Basically eBay is the cheapest route with some decent earphones. do you need earphones or headphones?

Yeh, I really appreciate hi fi quality, but $120 is expensive for earphones..

I actually found some that were well received as gifts based on the recommendation from jwy above. The trick was to find a specific brand / model that fit the bill before heading off to ebay / amazon.

What I really want to know from you is what's up with the name change?

I use iPhone earphones in conjunction with the HTC Audio Adapter I got with my HTC Fuze. They work great.
From the HTC Magician to the One X, I'm one of the HTC OG's.

    Glad it helped.

I agree that not everyone needs nice headphones. Not everyone needs nice phones either, but both make things the experience so much more awesome.

I felt this name reflected more on my Gothic lifestyle and personality.

That's great. I was fortunate enough to be brought up that life is about finding the ways to better define and redefine yourself. Much more journey than destination.

Old thread I know but in case someone does a search...I bought these on a recommendation. For the very first time using many many WM phones combined with many BT and wired headphones, I'm happy with a pair of "cheap" headphones.
To be honest, I've never tried a pair of $200 headphones so I have no comparison. But anyone looking for a decent pair that won't break the bank and are noticeably well above par, I'd recommend trying these. They sound very good.
