Link? Reviews? I really want this device in US 3G. Actually I need 3G or else I don't get a signal at my house... So getting the no 3G version isn't even an option for me. I would consider it though if I could.

I think I'm going to get this for my gf, just so I can play with it.

OK. I'm getting bored with my iPhone 3G and the bugs are getting old. Really, is EDGE that bad compared to 3G? I'm drawing at straws for someone to convince me here. The huge hi-res screen and 5MP camera are so tempting.

Someone on XDA mentioned this and I was mulling the idea ever since.

How about using an external wireless 3G module, kind of like we do with GPS receivers, tethering them through Bluetooth to a WM device?

So, why not get a 3G US module - these can be found in USB 3G adapters and cards - connect it to a Bluetooth module and then use that as an external modem. That way, all HSDPA (3G) traffic (and even GSM voice traffic) goes through the external module and the HTC HD can then be used to browse the internet without sacrificing high speed.

Here are the products I have in mind:

    What do you guys think?

EDIT: By the way, I think at&t refused to bring the HD to the U.S. for fear of it interfering with its exclusivity agreement with Apple over the iphone. After all, the HD is really a viable contender.

Alright guyz... I preordered my Touch HD from UK.

I just got a mail from the vendor that my device is shipped. I live in NJ, USA. I am going to have sleepless nights.

Ok... Now my HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris) is for sale... if anyone is interested

Will report back once I get the device. I ordered for express shipment... So, I am hoping to get it by this Saturday.... (crossing my fings).

Where did you order it from? How much was it?

Let us know how it well works with the U.S. GSM Carriers

depending on the market, wifi is so abundant that you may never miss having 3g. It seems that I can pull into any shopping center in the DC metro and find an open connection. Fortunately I just picked up a 3g bold so I'm content until they consider a US3G HD variant.

.....didn't I just say that 3g is overrated?!?!

I would think edge would be just fine to hold you over until you find a hot spot.

One of the biggest disadvantages of having a 2.5G-only compatible device is that tethering is really unusable. I routinely use my 3G device as a wireless modem when travelling or at a client's site where I can't get on their Internet connection due to security policy.
    Current Devices:

Sony xperia z3 compact 16GB + 64GB MicroSD locked BL
    Fido Galaxy S4 i337m
    Samsung Galaxy Camera 2
    MacBook Pro Retina 13" 2013 i7 2.8Ghz
    iPad Mini Retina 32GB Wi-Fi

    Fido plans
    2x $56/mth unlimited everything + 2GB data
    1x $35/mth 5GB data-only plan

Or I use WMWifi Router all the time. Same thing pretty much. Tethering...

Let's face it people were just trying to convince ourselves. In all actuality not having 3G in 2008 is pretty crappy... Will your phone work? Yes. Will you get data? Yes. Will it be as pleasant an experience as 3G data? No. Will you possibly lose voice reception? Yes.

It's odd to me that I only hold onto an HSDPA signal at my house whereas EDGE losing connection all the time. How is that? Signal from the tower using HSDPA is stronger than EDGE? I could see that. Since I'm on the fringe it would make sense because currently I NEED HSDPA to talk.
