How to take apart a "push to flip" (i880)

In the motorola service field guide (i880_fs.pdf) they appear to have a dedicated tool to take apart the flip system on the i880. I assume it's the same for any push to flip nextel phone....

Anyway how would I go about opening this part of the phone up without that tool?

take the push button out... you will see the two small guide posts on the hinge... with the phone open in your let hand and using the pliers in your right, grab the hinge at those pins.. but try to be on the head of the hinge NOT the pins, THEY WILL BREAK, with a frim hold on the phone and the pliers, turn the pliers a small bit clockwise and pull out at the same time.. with a little practice you will have this down in no time.. but the head of the hinge must turn a small amount to get the hinge out..

    hope that helped
