    Hello,

My 3 year contract is just about to expire.
I'm currently on a corporate plan (a plan that I got because I was an employee of said corporation). The plan consists of $25 + discounted system access fee ($5.50) + taxes for:

    $200 anytime minutes
    early evenings, unlimited evenings/weekends
caller id, conference calling, call waiting, msg center express

When I called Loyalty/Retention, they wanted me to call a department called "Business Retention" (1-888-687-4977) instead.

Now, the kick is that I actually left my corporation and went back to school.
I'm worried about calling "Business Retention" because I don't know whether they will check if I'm still an employee of the said company or not. In addition, if they outright ask me if I'm still an employee, I would prefer not to lie about it.

Could any Bell Mobility employee clarify what the procedure of the Business Retention group is, please? Or could you perhaps suggest a similar plan for approx the same cost (or cheaper) that I could obtain? caller id and voicemail are very important to me. However, my use of the phone is seasonal and I usually don't reach the 200-minute mark because of the evenings/weekends thing.

Of course the reason that I wanted to speak to retention in the first place is because I was hoping to get something extra for renewing my contract in the first place. I would like to get the new Samsung Omnia and perhaps have them waive the activation & transfer fees or get a couple of months of free unlimited mobile browsing.. (I don't think that my expectations are very high).

    Thank you for your help!

Since you're a corporate client, the same CSRs handle both normal calls and retention.

Consumer is split into CS and Retention/Loyalty, but it's all the same group of people for Corp/Business accounts. Dialing 1-888-687-4977 and choosing Corp/Bus will get you to the exact same people as dialing 611 and entering your phone number.

Also, no they won't ask if you still work there.

MStar, thank you very much. If I may pick your brain a little further... (you seem extremely knowledgable about Bell Mobility)

Do you think that asking them to waive the activation fee is realistic for a model that is just coming out? (I just saw today that the Samsung OMNIA won't be eligible for Unlimited Mobile Browser).

Also, would you happen to know the name of the plan that was quoted by one of the users earlier?

Hi, I was wondering if I should take this plan I was offered, she call it some kind of "promo uber plan"

    $17.30 - 200 daytime minutes, unlimited eve/wknd 6pm
    $10.00 - fun 20 bundle at 50% off
    $7.70 - saf/911
and 100 long distance minutes for free

    $35.00 plus taxes

I'd have to sign a 24 month contract, I currently on no contract.
I also have a $150 hardware upgrade credit and was looking to get an HTC Touch, but on the 24 month contract it would cost me $199.99. If I signed a 36 month contract they would give it to me for free. I'm kind of torn with what to do, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

buy a used touch on hofos non gsm buy/sell/trade or that list.. run by that craig guy..

Save the upgrade credit for when the touches drop..
On contract terms and responsibilities and getting the right information:

When youre talking about signing a contract for 3 years that will in the end may potentially cost you 20x X number of months you really should do everything to protect yourself.

I've been with Bell since the 70s, have never missed a payment since it automatically comes out of my bank account. I have two cell phones, two home phones, tv service and highspeed internet.

One of my cell phones was activated in 1999. The other one was activated in 2002.

Since 2002, I have had one upgrade to a LG Shine - which has been the worst phone i've ever had. It's been in 3 times for repairs and LG never fixes it. They send it back and its the same.

I have absolutely had enough of the phone, so I went in to downeast to see if there is anything they can do for me. They offered me a Samsung M320 phone for $60 if I buy it prepaid and call in to activate it. Oh, and there is a $35 activation fee on top of that, bringing it up to $95 for that phone. They told me if I had any issues with anything like that to call Bell.

I decided to do better, and go shopping around. I went up to the Telus store around the corner and this is what they offered me.

Samsung Instinct $0 (Telus Promotion of $49.99, Instore of $49.99 off = $0)
    Waived activation fee
    $17.50 200 Weekday + Unlimited Evenings/Weekends after 6
    $6.95 SAF
    $0.50 911
    $10 unlimited text

It seemed like a pretty good package. But I thought i'd give Bell the chance to match it. Seeing as i've had this phone with them for 7 years I figured they would offer me _something_.

I call in, get the first agent. It went like this:
Me: "Am I eligible for an upgrade?"
    Him: "No."
Me: "When will I be able to be eligible?"
    Him: "I don't know."
Me: "How much is the cancellation fee?"
    Him: "I think it's $400."
Me: "Can you get me someone who can answer these questions?"
Him: "I'll get an account specialist."

I get the account specialist. He tells me to get a prepaid phone and call in to activate it with them. They'll waive the $35 activation fee. Still, I don't want a M320 as I would like a phone that is somewhat decent. He tells me that the cancellation fee is $380 and then hangs up on me.

I call back again and get another agent who tells me the cancellation fee is $340 but since the account isn't in my name and I have "limited" access (even though we've called in before to give me full access) that I can't proceed any further. I accept that, wait for the account holder to come home, and call back again.

Call 3. I receive a girl who says that in August i'll be eligible for a "loyalty credit" of $50 towards a new phone. Great. Until August I guess i'll just turn the phone off and put it in my drawer. She tells me to go on eBay and buy a phone. I tell her that I want to cancel and again I get put through to loyalty.

Loyalty says there is nothing they can do for me. I tell them about Telus' offer, and they say they can give me the same package except i'd lose my grandfathered text messaging package and it would be 2500 text messages instead of unlimited, but there is nothing she can do about the hardware. "Bell doesn't handle hardware issues". She tells me that I am eligible for $50 off a phone if I wait until August. I say what the hell, how much would a phone be then. She tells me that if I wanted a Samsung M320 I will get it for $149.95. That's more expensive than a customer coming in off the street getting it for a paygo phone! Yeah, great way to keep customers guys. This time she quotes me $360 to cancel the phone (note: this is the third DIFFERENT quote i've been given). I just say to hell with it and i'll call back.

    END RANT.

Is there seriously nothing they can do? Are they that screwed up that spending hundreds of dollars a month with the company means nothing?

How far into your contract are you ?
For someone without a contract (or beyond 24 months in a 36 month contract...), if you renew for 3 years, you can also get the Samsung Instinct for 49.99$, the price plan you quoted is pretty similar to our Uber 17 plan too.

I am currently 20 months into the contract. They offered to match the priceplan. The issue is that they would do absolutely nothing about hardware, which is really really ******.

Hi, I am looking to get an HTC Diamond from Bell with a 3 year contract.

The best(cheapest) rate plan I can find is the Uber 25 plan, it's only 100 minutes plus 50 bonus, unlimited nights and weekends and 500 incoming.
It comes up to $32 monthly.

I saw some of the deals you guys were getting and got jelous, how do you get that Uber 17 deal?

An off topic question, why is Telus charging $99 for their Diamond and Bell only $49? Is the Bell one missing something they are not telling me about or are they not charging extra because they know we have to put up with their ugly UI?

Thanks but I can't find that deal anywhere on the website.

Plus when I went the Bell store yesterday to check the phone, on it's descirption it says it has to be a $35 or up monthly plan, but on the website I can checkout the phone and choose the Uber 25 plan and it works, so...
