Depending on the model, but yes generally Nokia's have a better re-sale value than Sony Ericsson. Esp. if the Nokia is Made in Finland.

N series retain value, even the newer S40s

And if you look at their site, the price is at $444 cdn. So from the time that the k790a came out which was well over a year ago, the price has not dropped that much. And I don't anticipate the k850i to drop in price that fast. Maybe by next year it would've dropped between $50-100 cdn.
perhaps on that particular site (it hasnt dropped too much on the sonystyle site either) - but on MOST of the reputable cell phone sites - the price drops pretty dramatically - and very quickly

the phone started off around 575-595 (iirc) - within a week it was down to 525 - i bought it about 2-3 weeks after it was released for 495 - so within 2-3 weeks, the price dropped $80...

and now - you can get them (at MANY places) for about $330-345 - so since its release (about a year ago) - the price has come down almost $250...

    - puremobile - $345
    - mobilebee - $329
    - plemix - $275 (k800i)
    - myworldphone - $279 (k800i - only $324 for the casino royale se)

the same thing happened with the w800i and the w810i - the price will come down for the k850i - and itll be soon - it actually wouldnt surprise me in the least if it dropped by $15-20 over the weekend...

    common sense...not so common...

I am not entirely sold on the K850 but haven't seen any clear negative press about it either so any reference you have would be great.
perhaps there was a high negative against the SE for a reason.

not true. what is true is that the resale value of different mobiles is different in different countries. in some countries, SE will have a higher resale value than nokias. in other countries, the reverse is true.

My k790a took a pretty serious depreciation hit, as I bought it upon launch.

I will look into k850 if its price drops into the 300s, or wait for a successor which is more focused on trupe optics.

I also have an iphone to hold me over...

I've passed on deals for $240 with complete accessories, the thing that killed its price was the iPhone.

    PRice drops

It may surprise you but Phonesource-usa has already dropped the price a whopping $5. That's like $2.5 a day. Sounds good to me, I'll wait 30 days.

    Price is now 604.95

i actually noticed that the blue version is 605 whilst the green remains at 609 - i wasnt sure if thats how it was initially or if the price actually did drop

and if it did drop by $5, then im not surprised in the least bit...

wow - i know j&r is a VERY reputable company - im wondering what the deal is

    either:
    - theyll get them in and realize the pricing was too low - possibly cancelling orders; or
    - they wont get them in for a VERY long time...
